Cara Lodge Hotel is located in a colonial-style house originally built in the 1840s. Our experience was unique....we arrived late and the hotel was full, plus there was a mix up with the room as I requested room for 2 adults and 1 child. Anyway, after a terrible first night sleeping on the floor.....a very kind man (so sorry I forgot to take his name) on reception relocated us to the Raleigh suite. This was quiet and had the space we needed......it made for a very pleasant stay at this lovely historic hotel. The receptionist was also very helpful at sorting out tours etc,

Full of potential with a mixture of Caribbean flavour and newly introduced Latino effect. Driving around the city is erratic with constant blowing of the car horn. Interesting wooden structures to view and plenty of restaurants available for a range of tastes. Taxis are used as an easy way to travel around the city if travelling on your own and for safety reasons. Plenty of restaurants in the hotels and other stand alone ones to choose from.
I visited when was Princess hotel but now it Ramada it beautiful and modern but I was disappointed they put up building where garden was we usually go sit in the garden after breakfast there is no garden now.
This is home for us so I cannot give an unbiased review. Definitely a need for improvement in cleanliness especially in open air markets. Private businesses are improving efficiency, government facilities need to step up especially in anticipation of increasing client/opportunities. People are still friendly mostly. Rental cars available if you have the courage to drive.
My last visit to GT was in 1984. So far I love it & what i have seen lots of improvement. The streets are so conjested with cars, some traffic lights on the streets would be nice. The van drivers are driving too fast on the road this is the so many people lives are loss. I was very disappointed to see such a mess at the Sea Walls with the garbage, they need to have garbage containers along there, employ people to clean up the mess instead of leaving it there, it takes away the beauty of our beautiful Guyana.
Beautiful city 🌃.Warm and friendly people .I felt safe moving around by car 🚗.Credible taxis to take you around with air conditioning.Check with where you staying though.Crime is down .City shuts down by 9pm .Lots of weekend parties but wasn’t a party guy .
I like the variety of foods available until late evening. Good shopping for local arts and craft. The traffic is hectic during the day with congestion. It is better to sight see in the afternoon when it is cooler.

The hotel is in close proximity to many activities you can do in Guyana. House keeping does a great job and the bar staff is friendly.
