Located in the center of Polače, on Mljet Island and in the heart of the Mljet National Park, Apartments Matana Chano offers self-catering studios and apartments, all with a panoramic sea view. The apartment was very nicely fitted out, but the thing that makes it is the balcony - big, with table and chairs and an umbrella, and what a VIEW. We loved starting and ending our days out on that balcony. Palače is a good choice for a base on the island. It has more rental options (bikes, cars, scooters) than Pomena, is bigger, arguably more scenic, and has plenty of restaurants (like Pomena).
Located in Polače, Rooms Karla features a terrace. With a shared lounge, the 3-star guesthouse has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The double room was perfect and has a little terrace. There is an oven and basic utensils for cooking. The property is in a great location. It is right next to the beach (2 mins walk on the right). A very quiet location for sunbathing and swimming. It’s a 5 mins walk to Polace where there are restaurants, ATMs, supermarket and bakery. You can also rent bikes, scooters, kayaks, SUPs. You can also get the shuttle bus to the National Park from here (ticket includes entrance to national park, shuttle and boat ride to st Mary’s island). It’s a great apartment in the perfect spot to explore this island. The owners are lovely and very kind. I would stay here again if I come back.
Just steps away from the sea in Polače, Apartments Dabelić offers accommodations with free WiFi. Free private parking is available on site. The property is set within the Mljet National Park. We had a really wanderful time. The apartment has a very good vibes. The view of the sea is fabulous. All you need is around. The hosts are nice and helpful.
Located on the island of Mljet, in the center of Polače right on the waterfront, Guest House Busurelo offers accommodations with furnished terraces overlooking the sea and free Wi-Fi. We had a fantastic stay at Guest House Busurelo. The room was spacious, the bed was really comfortable, it was very clean, and the view is just spectacular! We loved the large doors and the patio just outside the room. Polače is a lovely, quiet little village, and we were just a few hundred metres from a mini market, several restaurants and a bakery. We definitely recommend Busurelo for your stay in the beautiful Mljet National Park!
Located in the small village of Polače, this seafront guest house is just 492 feet away from the catamaran to Dubrovnik. The restaurant serves national dishes on a terrace by the sea promenade. The accommodation exceeded our expectations. It is well positioned in the village of Poláče with easy access to bike and car hire, supermarket, tourist information, bakery and a number of restaurants. We were given a lovely room with balcony and a good view of the bay. We spent many hours watching the coming and going of yachts. Our hostess kindly gave us some delicious sea-food snacks in the late afternoon, on more than one occasion.
Apartments Nodilo features sea views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Polače. This apartment was fulfilling everything we were looking for. We enjoyed the balconies and the great view over the bay. Clean and well functioning apartment and very kind and service minded host.
Located within Mljet National Park, Apartment Dalmatinac Ivo is set only steps away from the sea in Tatinica Bay. Polače is 1.6 mi away, while Goveđari is 3.1 mi away. Most of the tourists come to Mljet to get some peaceful time off. And Apartment Dalmatinac offers you just that. It is the only house in the bay Tatinica, just 2km from Polače and 5km from the Lakes (it is good to have a bike to shorten the distance). The apartment is spacious and it has a good AC and Wifi (but you could make yourself a favour and be offline for awhile ;) ). Apartment has a nice balcony with an amazing view. The owner's family is very friendly (the polar dog Thor included) and you will feel better than home in no time. Probably the best thing here is the restaurant, try the fish Orada and Brancin or the Octopus. And the prices are very reasonable. Guests of the house can rent a kayak for free. There are some tiny islands nearby to discover with kayak and the water is still with no waves. The beach is not big, but it has a lot of deckchairs and toys for children. So yes, this place is old and a bit rusty, but it has a soul and apartments like that are rare. It is nothing better than being awaken by the seagull's morning sound and having dinner with the lovely scenery of sun setting behind the ocean.
Offering sea views, Apartments Angelo in Polače has accommodations, a restaurant and a bar. Both WiFi and private parking are accessible at the apartment free of charge. Friendly and kind hosts, ready to help you with whatever you might need. Clean, spacious apartments with amazing sea view. The description of the apartment you find on booking completely matches the expectations. Lovely, quiet place I would always come back to.
Facing the beachfront in Polače, Rooms Ogigija features a terrace. Featuring a restaurant, the 3-star guesthouse has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The terrace is absolutely amazing. Really good located close to the park.

From Polače you can access the national park of Mljet easily - we hired bikes and it was a short (but hilly) ride to the entrance of the park and then we cycled around the lake and swam etc. There are a handful of restaurants in Polače - some of them are pretty expensive but there were a couple that were more reasonable.
Polace is quite lonely during September, when we visited, but it is a very good location for going to the NP Mljet, because you can take the free bus (included in the NP ticket) to center of National Park. There are some nice roman ruins, but it is not must-see sight. There are few expensive restaurants serving mostly see food, mini market, bakery. You can also rent a bike or scooter here.
Polače and the surrounding national park is a fantastic place to go to escape the crowds, relax and enjoy the beautiful nature of the islands. It's worth spending a couple of full days there. If you want to rent a bike for going around the lakes at the national park then it's much cheaper to rent in Polače than at the park (although you will have to cycle over the hill). If you need to get between Polače to Pomena then I wouldn't recommend the shuttle service that you see advertised around the town: they charge too much and they're very unfriendly.
Beautiful quiet place with everything you need on the doorstep. Bike, scooter and car hire, supermarket, bakers and good restaurants. You can buy a ticket to the national park at the harbour and a shuttle bus takes you there and back. You pay the same price for the ticket regardless of how many days you are there. We were there for 3 days and went up to the national park each time, it would have cost us the same for 1 day or 10 days, making it great value. The national park is well worth a visit with it's beautiful scenery and 2 lakes which you can swim in. You can hire kayaks, canoes and bikes in the national park. There is a boat which runs all day to the island in the big lake which is included in your ticket. The beach at Polace is lovely and never seems to get busy. Watch out for the urchins in the water. Buy water shoes!!!!!
Near a stunning national park with bikes, canoes & cars for hire. Local restaurants have excellent food & friendly staff but not cheap and need to book as popular spot for boats that moor by restaurants.
Several good restaurants, a small grocery shop, stacked to the roof! Good bakery shop, tourist info, two small souvenir shops. National park ticket office, a mini bus runs regularly to the national park, it only takes approx. 5 mins. We stayed 5 nights but felt 3 nights maximum would have done. There is also a pebbled beach a few minutes walk from the apartment.
