The small town is a bit neglected, the pavement is potholed, and the evening lighting is also weak. The spa mainly focuses on families with children. The swimming pool was closed, replaced by a water park for children. So there is no proper swimming pool. Restaurant options are very poor. Very high prices with very bad food. There was only one exception, the main building upstairs restaurant.

Zalakaros is a friendly town in Zala County.
Zalakaros is a friendly town in Zala County. We love the atmosphere and the friendliness of all the people we met there. You can spend days in the termal spa, visit the natural wonders nearby, go for sightseeing with dotto, segway or electric bikes. If you are a first-time visitor it is worth to check the Tourist Office in the center.AndreaHungary - 10

We used Zalakaros as a stopover to/from our main holiday (in Croatia), and what a good choice it was. It is a beautiful town, clean and well kept. The Spa is also very clean and well managed. I would also strongly recommend the Koma Restaurant - superb food, great service and value for money.

I only visited for the Tour de Zalakaros cylcling race and...
I only visited for the Tour de Zalakaros cylcling race and stayed for only 2 nights, but if possible for a next year visit hope I can stay a bit longer to discover more about the city and its surrounding areas, check out the Szilágyi Pastry Shop (has a high recommendation rating), the Thermal Spa, one of many restaurants, and also visit the Zalakaros Lookout but not just climbing it on a bike but just walking up there should be a pleasent sight too. It's also recommended to go on a solo/family cylcing tour, you get to enjoy some seriously beautiful scenery. ;) Csak a Tour de Zalakaros kerékpáros verseny miatt utaztam le és csak 2 éjszakát maradtam, de ha jövőre lesz lehetőségem újra eljönni, akkor remélhetőleg hosszabb ideig tudok majd maradni és Zalakaros teljes egészét bejárhatom majd, a Szilágyi Cukrászdába ellátogatni (egész magas értékelést adtak nekik), a Termál fürdőt, bármelyik étterembe a sok közül :) Felmászni a zalakarosi kilátóhoz is, de nem csak bringával ezúttal, hanem gyalog is, hogy gyönyörködhessek a kilátásban. :) Egyéni/családi kerékpáros túra is ajánlott, csodálatos látványban lesz részünk. ;)

From $81 per nightQuiet area, a 10-15 min. walk to Zalakaros Thermal Spa, terrace with table, chairs and some panorama - a nice place to sit if it is not raining or cold outside. Clean, spacious, decently arranged, practical and functional apartment for four adults and a child, with bathroom and a second toilet, with Netflix service active on TV, a plus of joy for our little girl who was able to watch her favorite cartoons.

We had all we needed, the place was spacious and comfortable + the kitchen was fully equipped for making pretty much everything. Perfect for 4 people! Takes 6, but the couch is not very comfortable. The whole apartment was really clean and organized. Would return to this place next time. Restaurants nearby offer excellent food for reasonable prices so that you can eat out as well. Overall 9/10!

We rented two apartments , they were clean and well equipped, had (almost) everything we needed. The beds are comfortable. Parking slot in front of the building was always available. Swimming pool in the building free of charge.
