Much nicer than Bali. I went on a Phinisi liveaboard and during two days I swam with turtles, Manta Ray, and dolphins. I saw the bats fly over the bay where we were moored on the last night. We also went to see the Komodo dragons. I recommend this activity.
If you are a vegetarian be sure to explain what you don't eat, generally there is little understanding of this concept. On the liveaboard for example they offered me rice and a few raw vegetables as food, whereas the meat eaters had a lot of dishes. I had to beg a boiled egg. I have also stayed at two different hotels here, neither have alcohol. On the boat there was Bintang, but other passengers had taken their own supply that the crew kept in a fridge for them.
Make sure you have insect repellent for the hotel rooms.

Labuan Bajo is the ideal starting point for excursions to Komodo and numerous beautiful islands located in front of Flores coast.
Unfortunately the city is not well organized, dirty, polluted, with inefficient sewage system spreading bad smell all around. The overcrowding of tourists is not sustainable by the available structures.
Authorities should consider to take serious actions to improve the environmental conditions of the city.

If you go in August, book your boat trip in advance as they were mostly booked out. If you are interested in snorkelling, join a Dive Boat as they go to the best reefs.
It's easy and cheap to book a moped, which enables you to visit local areas. If you book a taxi, the driver will stay with you all day so you'll pay a day rate (700,000 or £35) which is a lot more than a moped (nearer 90,000 or £5).

watch out for scam boat booking on booking.com like Jelajah Komodo and Tour Komodo only book boat stays if recommended by a friend or while you are there. Which are still being advertised on booking.com (they aren't real and don't exist) The fish market is overpriced and they can't cook the seafood. Go to the local one further up the hill. Mare Atlas Italian restaurant was great kids loved in and the food was pretty good.

The view of the hotel was incredible!
The view of the hotel was incredible! I wish that I went on a private boat trip! Stayed longer. I wished it had a breakfast buffed could be optional. Better menu choices on the menu like salads, soup, vegetables and better prepared. The restaurant and pool area can be better maintain and elaborated decorated. But I really enjoyed overall. It is just details that can be improved. Thank you so much!
We liked everything. This property is mind blowing. The spacious rooms, the courteous staff, the location (huge premises with a private beach), the pool (large infinity pool with a floating bar), the restaurant - every aspect gets a 5 star
Note: Labuan Bajo isn't the type of area where you'd have a lot to do outside the hotel, other than the Komodo tours et al. Hence, better to book a nice property and not a BnB. To that extent, Sudamala fits the bill perfectly
New and clean !
Always choose a room with windows 🙂
Staff was nice,
a lot of trainees though.
Breakfast was good with a great view on the roof top restaurant. Pool was clean.
Great stay to bridge the days to go to Komodo island / tour
I think Labuan Bajo is the next up coming place for tourists. They invest in good and clean walking streets, the harbor looks great and enormous welcoming 😀
Great fish restaurants!!
Beautiful views! Amazing sunsets. A little taste of the Greek islands perhaps? This place seems like it was built for instagrammers. The hotel has lots of “photo spots” with interesting sculptures, platforms and swings. Perched high above Labuan Bajo it is a steep walk to get out, so recommend driving unless you are keen for a workout. Breakfast at the hotel bar was a beautiful spot to start the day.
My wife and I really loved the treatment of the hotel staff. We have to made a specially recognition to Andri . He was very friendly and handy, made our stay better than our expectations, always smiling and provided solutions and plans in Labuan bajo. It was a fantastic place thanks to him. Highly recommended as guide.Terima kasih banyak
We stayed here after 2 days of exploring the Komodo national park and nearby islands. Being away from the hustle and bustle of Labuan Bajo was a great advantage for us.
Very peaceful and quiet place, lovely garden, amazing sunset (don’t expect a great beach though), very spacious room. Very clean. Great value for money.
