Uluwatu is a good experience of Bali that is not nearly as tourist-heavy, traffic-heavy, and westernized as other areas, such as Kuta. There are many great beaches, but a bike is a must. It can be a very steep decent to get to most of them! It is also a surfer's paradise.
The tourists at Uluwatu are mainly young people having a good time going to bars, restaurants and the surfing beaches. The things to do are spaced out and most people get around on a motorbike. Taxis for short distances are expensive. The whole area is less built up and less populated than the other tourist areas of Bali. The landscape is much dryer and rocky with hardy vegetation. Steep cliffs lead to the beaches and sunset views.
Bali has changed a LOT since their tourist boom began in the early 1970s. Kuta now feels like a place to avoid, but down south in Uluwatu is a much better and more relaxed experience. There is still construction happening around the clock, but the established places are wonderful. If you are a surfer or beach lover, then you will LOVE it!
If you like to visit the beach, go to dreamland beach and stay away from Panga Panga beach if you want to keep enjoying your holiday. Oh, do I have a treat for you! the infamous Padang Padang beach. Brace yourself! So, you’re contemplating whether losing your precious drone or visiting Padang Padang beach is worse? Well, let me enlighten you. Padang Padang beach is just a delightful little slice of paradise. I mean, who wouldn’t want to spend their precious vacation time in a cramped, overcrowded nightmare? Picture this: You arrive at the beach, full of anticipation and excitement, only to find that there’s absolutely no space to lay your towel. It’s like a game of Tetris, but instead of colorful blocks, it’s sweaty bodies packed together like sardines. Ah, the sweet aroma of sunburned flesh and sunscreen mixed with the scent of desperation. Truly a sensory delight! And let’s not forget about the ambiance. If you’re into the pulsating beats of overcrowded clubs, then Padang Padang beach is your personal slice of heaven. Just imagine trying to relax and enjoy the sound of crashing waves while being serenaded by thumping bass and the occasional incoherent drunkard shouting obscenities. It’s like a symphony of chaos! Oh, and did I mention the two-minute stay? Yes, that’s all the time you’ll need to realize that Padang Padang beach is a little piece of sunny hell on earth. It’s fascinating how such a small window of time can shatter all your dreams of a tranquil beach getaway. But hey, at least you’ll have a hilarious story to tell your friends about how you survived the beach from hell. So, my dear friend, if you’re seeking an unforgettable experience of claustrophobia, noise pollution, and regret, then by all means, visit Padang Padang beach. It’s the perfect destination for those who enjoy the finer things in life, like losing their drones and enduring the torment of overcrowded beaches. Bon voyage!
Loved the relaxed style and that it is on the coast with great views. Also lots of food options. Didn't love how Australian it has been and how everything is inflated for an Australian economy rather than bali, feels very unfair to the locals. The beaches are very difficult to get to and it isn't a very easily accessible city.
Uluwatu is nice, very different from Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu. Less traffic but also less restaurants, cafe's and shopping. It's very much a surf vibe. The beaches are also different but a lot harder to access. You will find golden sand and blue water! Uluwatu is on a cliff top so getting down to the beaches means a lot of stairs. I really enjoyed my week in Uluwatu as we stayed in a great hotel with a great pool with magnificent views so spent most of the time in the hotel and got out at night. We found some really good restaurants too.
Uluwatu
Super nice family always here to help and recommend places in uluwatu. They arranged everything for us and we had nothing to worry about during our short stay. We arrived, we had our scooter rental ready at the door, they recommended good local surf shops to buy a board, restaurants and even took care of our shuttle back to the airport. You can always reach to them at any time. I am used to 5* hotels and also used to write bad reviews when it needs to be done. But here the service is really perfect.
Uluwatu
Staff were super friendly and welcoming! The pool area and the views over the ocean were incredible. Some mornings we even saw the mountains of central Bali in the distance. The view off the cliff is also stunning, we watched surfers catch waves and even spotted turtles coming up to the surface breathe! The exterior of the hotel was beautiful, the restaurant offered an extensive menu with loads of different dishes and had great views over pool and ocean. Massages were great, totally recommend!
Amazing hotel, absolutely huge but easy to get about. Couple of different restaurants, bars and pools on site, all great. Amazing views of Uluwatu from the hotel itself. Lots of on site activities too, plus easy transport to associated beach clubs. Excellent value for money. Lovely clean, comfy and spacious room. Good central location, easy to get to all parts of Uluwatu via cheap taxi's. Brilliant breakfast food included each morning, large selection of foods to choose from.
Uluwatu
everything! The property is wonderful, well maintained, I loved the farm vibes and the view from the cliff to Nyang Nyang beach is stunning! Also, Nyang Nyang is super close and it is the most beautiful beach. We are a couple of surfers and they provide us a scooter to go surfing in Uluwato in the mornings, it is less then 10 min from the property. Oblong and his family took such good care of us, they are amazing people and I’m grateful for everything we learned with them !
The hotel is a fantastic place to stay when you’re visiting uluwatu with everything you may need. the rooms are super clean and well furnished, the pool is super nice & clean, the breakfast is amazing and the location perfect if you want to go surfing or also go explore some of the close by restaurants. the hotel staff is super friendly, polite and always helpful and will make their best to make the stay amazing. I definitely will come back.
Absolutely great place to stay. Its in a quiet place. The villa I stayed was great and clean. The staff was wonderful and helpful. Food was delicious not a big selection but everything I ate tasted great. I’m a backpack traveler and the hotel did my laundry for very cheap price. Also included a voucher each day for the Pandawa Beach and included a shuttle to and from the beach. This place exceeded my expectations in every way. I would go back.
Uluwatu
I'm not the kind of person to do reviews but this place was incredible so here it is... From the beginning until the end of my stay everything was incredible. We really loved the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the Villa as well as the nature around it... singing birds, etc.... the staff are all Balinese super happy and super accommodating. Very spacious and beautiful architecture. Definitely Recommend!!
My stay at gravity exceeded my expectations. It was so lovely and the staff was incredible. They upgraded my room free off charge and accommodated me to extend my stay one night. The pool was so refreshing, the views are incredible, the bed was maybe the comfiest I’ve experienced thus far in Bali and about every inch of the hotel is aesthetic. Def will be back to stay at Gravity!
Uluwatu
Kelana is a Balinese-owned and run facility, so you can feel great about supporting a local family business. Absolutely gorgeous, clean, and modern. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Nyang Nyang beach is down the street and you’re a short bike ride away from Uluwatu beach, temple, and other major tourist attractions. Definitely give this place a try if you’re in town!
Uluwatu
Such a beautiful little sanctuary, lush Balinese gardens and very sweet villas. The staff are all so sweet, and seem genuinely happy - you get the feeling they are treated like an extended part of the owners family? Anyway, it adds to the warm ambiance of the place. The property is very close to the beach, as well as a couple of fabulous restaurants.
Loved every second of our stay - wonderful facilities, wonderful staff, good breakfast. it’s located a bit from Uluwatu, but the free transfer covers the area pretty well. The room was beautiful, the pool super nice etc. Will come back for sure!!! This was our favourite hotel in Bali and we stayed in quite a few. Thank you so much!
Uluwatu
We had a great stay at Village Bali! The location is really central to everything in Uluwatu, and very easy to get to a lot of good beaches and restaurants. The staff were super lovely and helpful, and the breakfast every morning was delicious! It was such a nice relaxing vibe at the villas and we will definitely stay again.
The property is really close to Bingin, which is an amazing beach in Bali with great surf breaks. The hotel is pretty, clean and has a great pool area! The owner was a gem and dropped some stuff I left by mistake back with my in Canggu. Deffo recommend and will be staying again!
Uluwatu
Amazing place from a lovely couple. Located in a beautiful and peaceful area of Uluwatu, the villa quickly feels like your Balinese home. It's got everything you need and there are lots of little touches that make your stay just that much better. Highly recommended!
Uluwatu
Uluwatu is a quiet part 9f Bali. There are many small boutique hotels all around. We had the chance to stay one of the best with 6 bungalows. Owner is very tasteful on decorations and setting. Delicious breakfast
Uluwatu
A gem in Uluwatu, overlooking the sea, boutique style hotel with either bungalows or private villas and with low numbers of people around and great beach + restaurant and shops at walkable distance
Stunning hotel, amazing room, amazing view, best breakfast I had in Bali. Room cleaning like I've never seen before.
The attention was incredible, they are a beautiful Balinese family!
Uluwatu
