Ballyliffin
Offering ocean views, Madra Rua Organic Accommodations is located in Ballyliffin and provides free WiFi. I spent two nights here with my husband while touring the county and it was excellent! We were instantly relaxed the minute we walked through the door. The organic soaps smelled amazing. The linens were also incredible. I loved the sheets so much, I ordered a pair when I got home! The breakfast was really great as well - very fresh! The hosts were charming and so incredibly welcoming to us! Given these COVID times, it’s also important to note the B&B was very clean, there was hand sanitizer available to guests, and social distancing was implemented. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area.

Featuring a garden and barbecue facilities, Mia's Self Catering Holiday Cottage features accommodations in Claggan with free WiFi and lake views. What an amazing stay we had here. This cottage is absolutely beautiful and the turf stove was lit on our arrival and fresh farm eggs left for us to use. We received a warm welcome from John. The rooms / showers etc. were perfect and there's a lovely area to sit outside. We booked a Taxi (€7 each way) to take us to the Rusty Nail Gastro pub and the food and service there was excellent. Booking is advised as this place really fills up. The location of the cottage is within driving distance of so many places to visit and there was lots of information / maps left for us of what to see and do in the area. We will definitely stay here again.

Ballyliffin a lovely town a good spot to travel Around the Inishowen Peninsula Great choice of food in different establishments Nancy’s Barn food amazing first class and very reasonable The beach amazing for a walk
Ballyliffin is a very small place with a restaurant that boasts the best seafood chowder, but note that it is not for vegetarians as it contains sausage! I went there to dance at a local ceili. Although it was a challenge to find the ceili location in the rain, it was well worth it! In the neighbourhood is the Doagh Famine Village, which is definitely worth a visit. There are lovely walks along the waterfront. It is an area to explore.
Very welcoming staff, nothing was too much trouble for them! Spacious, comfortable room! Lovely food! The only downside to our stay here was the discoloured radiator with rust like stains in the bathroom which was slightly off putting. However, the room was spotless!
Ballyliffin has it all, great places to stay, eat and drink as well as stunning views and a beach that would rival the med! The people are very friendly and it is well worth a visit. Go in the summer or winter as the views change dramatically with the seasons. Swim in the Atlantic or side by the open fire and have a Irish coffee to warm your bones, Donegal has it all!
Beautiful scenery with mountains, beaches, islands and sand dunes. Comfortably small village with all the necessary services. Excellent walk to the beach with a small beach park and benches. The Doagh Famine village is a must do.
The breakfast was amazing and I totally recommend paying the little bit extra to get it. The croissants were extra flakey and the eggs were somehow perfectly runny which in a buffet is near impossible. There’s also an amazing restaurant across the street called nancy’s Barn that’s open until 5 every day and they might be the best restaurant ever. They’ll do a packed lunch picnic for you and their seafood chowder is actually to die for. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were responsive. That said, they don’t have conditioner in the rooms you can borrow it from the leisure centre. I think this is related to their attempt to be eco which I can appreciate. The wait staff in the restaurant left something to be desired but it is possible that we went on an off day. It seemed like we were forgotten on multiple occasions though and found ourselves waiting for a long time. The area is lovely. It’s close to a pretty beach and couples would walk along it hand in hand as the sun set and the tide would pull the water far from the shore. It’s also near Malin Head which is lovely. We took a day trip out to Northern Ireland to see the giants causeway and another to Fanad Head for the lighthouse. This may not have been the most ideal way to go about this but we had wanted to stay in one place. There’s probably easier ways to do this though because Fanad Head was a day of 4 hours of driving. They said that during the summer months there is a ferry though. The hotel has an incredible view.
Great location, staff were fantastic. Food in Jacks is well prepared and thought out. Spa and leisure facilities were top notch. Would definitely stay again
