On the shores of Lough Corrib, Portarra Lodge offers rooms with private bathrooms, full Irish breakfasts, and trout fishing on the lake. Both Michael and Joyce were wonderful. I loved the property and hospitality. Breakfast was customized and delicious!

Nice and quiet away from the hustle and bustle but had all you need bus stops taxis and so on only 10 or 20 minutes from the city
Contact the local historical society wherever you go and find out a lot about the area. Eat at the Forge. It is excellent and has gluten-free items. Learn the bus schedule to Galway. Contact Jerry Burke for cab service telephone number is 353 086 396-1157. The 353 is the country number which you don't need to use if you have an Irish phone.
The Forge has a good selection of pub grub and some good Asian restraunts. there are some very nice drives around and Galway is a short drive away and well worth a visit as is Cliffton though a lot further again very well worth the drive return via the Conamara Nationak Park. All in all a good central point.
The Forge is a nice restaurant! Nice book shop. Galway is not far by car, great trad session in The Crane Bar. Connemara National park and Kylemore Abbey are a one hour Drive away and stunningly beautiful.
Much bigger town than we were expecting. Well located for Connemara, Lenane, The Burren and the Cliffs of Moher. Galway City very handy for all mod cons. Food in Moycullen basically pub food so quite pricey even by Dublin standards.
Great area to use as a base. There's actually an excellent Indian restaurant in town that we really enjoyed. We didn't spend much time in Moycullen itself, but used it as a base for the area -- Aran Islands, Connemara, Kylemore Abbey, and even Galway (although it's about a 30 minute drive to the city.)
The lodge sits on a lake a bit outside Moycullen. Its was pretty much the perfect experience. Joyce and Michael are amazing hosts and the girls were super helpful. Try the porridge, it‘s the best I‘ve ever had.
