From the hotel to the beach was .60p which was cheap it’s a far superior beach than the one at fort kochi that beach was dirty and rubbish compared to cherai beach . The beach wasn’t crowded except wkends but it was full of colour from the ladies saris . Beautiful it was . It’s a long beach and lovely warm sea plenty of places to just sit and read or just tan . The locals if you’re friendly just want to have a picture taken with you they are so friendly . I wish I had stayed here instead of fort kochi . Go to lilliput restaurant it’s amazing . And if your lucky like me you will see dolphins , truly amazing that was
Cherai Beach is a great place for a wind down after the massive hassle of obtaining visa and long flight. Food and drink very inexpensive but do not consume alcohol with your meal as it comes in disguise and may cost more than your food bill!! You will struggle to get a good cup of coffee so take your own brand with you. We recommend Waves Restaurant and there is a hotel (the only one) in Cherai Junction. Fab and exciting public bus ride to Vypen from Cherai Junction then 12 rupees (14p) there and back on the ferry over to Fort Cochin....excellent cheap as chips day out. Auto tuktuks are great from Cherai beach to Cherai Junction.
Not really worth a visit. Neither the beach nor the sea is particularly clean and the beach is pretty narrow. This may be a result of recent storm damage. It's a local resort so not appropriate to wear swimwear. We enjoyed watching families up from the city playing on the small stretch near Cherai Beach Junction but otherwise it's not a particularly attractive or interesting beach.
The beach is very long and really nice to take a walk. I really enjoyed it. If you are looking for a beach with beach bars etc, then that’s not it. The beach is limited by huge stones which are Thread to prevent the high waves from flooding the street beyond. But it offers some spectacular views. Not many foreign tourists in April which is not a problem but just in case you expect to find other backpackers, there aren’t any… overall it was really worth visiting this beach
Cherai beach is a tiny beach on Vypin Island. It is very small, the sand is rather gritty and dark and to be honest the view is not very idyllic. There is a lot of fishing that goes around it. So, the sea food restaurants there have good reviews. There are some activities like sailing and boating which are also available. But just for the beach experience, there are plenty of far more prettier beaches in Kerala that one can visit.
It's a much quieter beach and certainly not so devopled as varkala and kovalam. You won't find any sunbeds or umbrellas for rent and restaurants are limited. Lilliputs restaurant very good though. If you want a relaxing quiet chilled out break which is less than a hours drive to Cochin airport then choose The Lake Front homestay. You would not be disappointed. Paradise by the lake.
Cherai Beach
Stayed in one of the rooms upstairs... Happy about everything... the location, ambience, facilities, food and above all the hospitality... Indeed beyond our expectations... As the church was nearby, we could attend the morning Mass also. The Munambam beach is hardly 2km... and is safe and clean. We all enjoyed a lot... Traveling with my little son who is just 10 months, I was feeling quite safe and comfortable. Happy to recommend this place...
Cherai Beach
Beautiful guest house very pleasant, well placed near the beach and lakes, and local life with fishermen. nice welcome by an adorable family, the mother of the house cooks excellent food. they take you for a walk and participate in local and traditional life. a big thank-you
the location is incredible. I stepped out on that balcony and felt myself immediately relax. The staff is so friendly and so eager to provide every comfort. and the cleanest bathroom I have encountered in India- much better than some fancy hotels I’ve stayed at!
