From the hotel to the beach was .60p which was cheap it’s a far superior beach than the one at fort kochi that beach was dirty and rubbish compared to cherai beach . The beach wasn’t crowded except wkends but it was full of colour from the ladies saris . Beautiful it was . It’s a long beach and lovely warm sea plenty of places to just sit and read or just tan . The locals if you’re friendly just want to have a picture taken with you they are so friendly . I wish I had stayed here instead of fort kochi . Go to lilliput restaurant it’s amazing . And if your lucky like me you will see dolphins , truly amazing that was

Cherai Beach is a great place for a wind down after the massive hassle of obtaining visa and long flight. Food and drink very inexpensive but do not consume alcohol with your meal as it comes in disguise and may cost more than your food bill!! You will struggle to get a good cup of coffee so take your own brand with you. We recommend Waves Restaurant and there is a hotel (the only one) in Cherai Junction. Fab and exciting public bus ride to Vypen from Cherai Junction then 12 rupees (14p) there and back on the ferry over to Fort Cochin....excellent cheap as chips day out. Auto tuktuks are great from Cherai beach to Cherai Junction.

Not really worth a visit.
Not really worth a visit. Neither the beach nor the sea is particularly clean and the beach is pretty narrow. This may be a result of recent storm damage. It's a local resort so not appropriate to wear swimwear. We enjoyed watching families up from the city playing on the small stretch near Cherai Beach Junction but otherwise it's not a particularly attractive or interesting beach.

The beach is very long and really nice to take a walk.
The beach is very long and really nice to take a walk. I really enjoyed it. If you are looking for a beach with beach bars etc, then that’s not it. The beach is limited by huge stones which are Thread to prevent the high waves from flooding the street beyond. But it offers some spectacular views. Not many foreign tourists in April which is not a problem but just in case you expect to find other backpackers, there aren’t any… overall it was really worth visiting this beach
Very nice place right by a quite beach. The family that run the place are so lovely, I even got invited to one of the members wedding. Perfect room with ac. Very clean and amazing breakfast. Also wish we had tried the fish dinner sooner as it was amazing and would have had it more! Very helpful and kind owners and a good outside area. Cherai beach town is also great with some restaurants and really friendly people everywhere. Would highly recommend this place.
The room was great, as expected when booked, clean and as described AC and WIFI worked well.
The staff were very helpful and friendly for everything we needed for the stay, felt very welcomed. The food at the restaurant was some of the best we had at Cherai Beach, was always busy in the evening which is always a good sign.
I would happily recommend.
The homestay family is awesome, friendly and helpful. We felt like part of it. They have lots of useful tips for trips and answers to daily life in India. The garden with a swing, shade and animals is a joy. It is the perfect mixture between beach life and relaxing in a beautiful surrounding. We would always come again.
Thanks for everything, Sudeesh.
Modern bathroom: After almost four weeks in B&B and homestays in southern India, finally no more wet feet when using the toilet and washbasin as there is a separate shower.
A spacious room equipped with fridge, kettle etc., large balcony facing the beach.
Owner and his team extremely friendly and helpful.
It was okay—it tasted like homemade breakfast in a typical Kerala household. However, the view was amazing. We got to have breakfast with a view of the backwaters, and that was beautiful. I would have liked it better if they had given us at least one more option for breakfast.
