Polite, helpful staff. Very nice attached restaurant. Food was tasty. Staff was willing and able to accommodate dietary restrictions (vegan, no cheese, butter, cream, milk, ghee or paneer). Staff helped us with transportation.

Shimoga is a nice small city on the banks of tunga river.

Shimoga is a nice small city on the banks of tunga river. It is a nice central point for lots of tourist spots. It has a good mix of both adventure and temple spots. We visited in december so the greenery was little less and so was the waters in the river. But that enabled us to spend time on river as well. Would like to visit again during monososn.

Jog falls in the rainy season is majestic and should not be missed. Bhadra Wildlife sanctuary is also a good place to look for wildlife and do a safari - the kids will love it. That apart, there are many small places in and around Shimoga that can be explored - Mattur, Guli Guli Shankara temple, Sacred Heart Cathedral, etc.

Shimoga is the best place for stay food is good.

Shimoga is the best place for stay food is good. But if you ate traveling in other state vehicle it's not the best place to go. I got a very bad experience in Gandhi Bazar road were I parked and went for shopping. One local guy purposely came and hit my car and made a big mess and some 50 people surrounded and damaged my car. After police came every body ran away. So pls be careful when driving inside shimoga.

A small town with well laid out roads.

A small town with well laid out roads. The town planner should plan placing direction boards along road junctions, for the benefit of travelers. Gandhi park which is a tourist spot could have been better maintained, a parking lot also could assist folks visiting the park. I could not visit the Lion safari as it had closed for the day. The drive to Jog falls is simply awesome. The scenic beauty enthralls and the road is a pleasure to drive. Breakfast at Sagar is a good option, the hotel I stopped at served a scrumptious meal! (pardon me for not recollecting the name of the hotel)

The drive to Shimoga and further to Jog Falls is a great experience, except a few small patches which need to be done up ! The hills with its vegetation is quite lovely and Jog Falls is so very beautiful.

Royal Orchid Shimoga is a hotel that I opt for each time I visit Shimoga. The hotel staff is courteous, and pleasant and offers timely service. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. As this is right at the Shimoga city centre don't expect any views from the room that is probably only negative to point, otherwise, a good option to choose when you visit Shimoga.
