This is a beautiful guest house located outside all towns. You feel you are in the middle of Iceland and yet only 30 minutes from facilities. It is new and well apportioned. We could cook a few items and reheated pizza in the microwave from our lunch in Selfoss. It was cold on arrival but great directions to get us warm quickly. The communication given by hosts is so thorough and timely, everything you will need for a comfortable stay. Wifi quick and they even leave you a Netflix subscription if you need an evening movie:) The curtains close and give you as much darkness as possible during the midnight sun. Bathroom is small but we did not need to spend much time in there other than to shower which was great. Thanks for the morning coffee:) We would highly recommend this location, it was close to some amazing waterfalls and sites, and would stay here again!

Hella isn't a particularly exciting place and doesn't have many sights or restaurants to visit (also, the few available places close at 8 or 9 the latest). Good for one night though, while passing through from Reykjavik / Golden circle on the way to Vik/East.
We wanted to be able to see the Northern Lights in a location with no light pollution, so we decided to stay in Hella our first night in Iceland, and then stay in the city each night afterwards. Definitely was a good place to be for viewing the lights, but our night there was cloudy... No regrets though, because we see some beautiful terrain on the drive from the airport to this location. Not a huge 'downtown' or anything like that, but it was easy to find and the folks at the place we stayed, Hotel Laekur, were absolutely wonderful.
good location for exploring the highlands interior of Iceland above the south coast, as well as exploring the south coast, in general. Beautiful waterfalls nearby but no real restaurants in this town. You've got to go to Selfoss to eat out. Lots of horse breeding farms nearby and even a bird sanctuary.
Winter Daylight is short, aim to be at your destination for the brightest period. Great scenery, great roads (i.e. Highway 1). People were as pleasant as expected. DO NOT SPEED - Fines seem to be 100€ per every additional 10Km I drove the whole Ring Road in 4 Days and seen all the sights (i.e. Top 5). 3 Hotels. 1 Jeep. 2 Speeding Fines Next visit will be City Break (i.e. 2-3 Days Hotel)
Hella is located in the golden circle. All major tourist/must see and must do attractions are within driving distance and the drive is very extremely scenic and mesmerizingly beautiful, filled with "WOW!!" We found ourselves saying "WOW!"" "Just WOW!!" non-stop. We can also see a lot of Icelandic horses, sheep, cattle and swans along the way.
I liked the village. We had some problems with our rental car so we visited a mechanic while there. He was very helpful and professional. He took care of our problems so we were quickly on our way. We enjoyed the Lava Center which was nearby .
Hella
Loa’s nest is a clean, modern guesthouse just off route 1 in Hella. Mountain views and horse farms abound giving the location a calm and serene feeling. The guesthouse is run by a wonderful, kind family who cheerfully greeted us in the morning and shared friendly conversation over coffee and waffles. Spacious, simple rooms with comfortable beds gave us the best sleep we’ve had in Iceland. The private bath was also spacious and clean with modern, hot showers. We can’t recommend Loa’s Nest highly enough!
Hella
This is the best stay we had in our 10 night tour of Iceland. A few minutes outside of Hella in a very quiet location, the duplex is updated with modern decor and very well equipped. We enjoyed the private hot tub on the private deck. Beautiful views. Kitchen is well stocked for cooking. There are plenty of pillows and extra blankets although this was not needed as the apartment was nice and warm upon arrival. Host is very attentive via messenger. Our only regret is that we didn't book two nights.
Hotel Laekur is a cozy and beautiful property. It is an old barn made into a family owned and operated hotel... The rooms are very comfortable, staff is friendly, welcoming and really helpful... Dining/Restaurant service excellent and the food was delicious! I would completely recommend this hotel if you are traveling through the southern part of Iceland!
Hella
We stayed in one of the cabins on a November trip to Iceland. Easy to find location and lovely views in the daytime. The cabin was comfortable, warm and spacious for two and the kitchen well equipped (fridge and oven). It was very useful having the restaurant nearby (although we didn't eat there the night we stayed) and the staff were friendly.
Detail-oriented, luxury hotel, with outdoor hot tubs, excellent restaurant, wake up call for Aurora Borealis sightings, and a telescopic observatory. The owner himself was on sight, and helped facilitate the excitement of the Northern Lights that came out to greet us. All staff was friendly and welcoming. Everything added up to a memorable stay.
First, we couldn't find the hotel entrance, but the Kanslarinn Restaurant barkeepers kindly showed us where to go. We checked in to the hotel with a friendly man, who explained and showed us everything. The room was nice, and we had a relaxing stay at Kanslarinn with a fine breakfast the morning after.
Hella
I have stayed at dozen of hotels in Iceland. This was on the top of the list of best stays/experiences ever. The cottage was super clean and had everything needed for our stay. Hopefully I will have a chance to visit it again :)
great staff; excellent breakfast; very comfortable mattress; pleasant bathroom; 1’ away of the road 1, so easy to find. over expected great value for money, considering the icelandic standard.
The hotel's interior is very well done and has almost an Instagram feel. We had a small cottage with a private hot tub that was fantastic. We especially appreciated the provided robes.
Kitchen and bathroom facilities were pretty good. The location is good - a short walk into Hella for shops and restaurants.
Very gracious hosts, lives on the other side of the house. Location close to hella and gas stations.
Everything. Hotel made for a magical Iceland experience.
