Surrounded by nature, this guest house is within 10 minutes’ drive of Egilsstadir and Lagarfljot River. Rooms have access to a shared lounge and free hot drinks at all times. It was extremly clean. Great breakfast. There is no possibility to cook there but you can get coffee, tea and there is a microwave. The stuff was amazingly helpful.
Located in the East Iceland region, Sólbakki Holiday Home features a terrace. Guests staying at this holiday home have access to a fully equipped kitchenette. Great view of the mountains with waterfalls behind the property and forest lined lake in front of the property. Love the quietness and privacy of the cottage. The hot tub was a plus after two long days of sightseeing and driving to area points of interest. Found it comforting that the owners took time to write up some helpful hints in their guest booklet. Would definitely recommend to others.
Stóravík Cottages is set in Egilsstadir. Located on the beachfront, this property has a garden, barbecue facilities and a terrace with a hot tub. Location, view was lovely. Clean. Lounge was comfortable. The beds were very comfortable. House was nice and warm. The hot tub was a lovely addition.
Opened in June 2018, Hotel 1001 Nott offers modern accommodations 3.1 mi from Egilsstadir. The hotel features outdoor hot tubs overlooking Lake Lagarfljót. There is also an on-site bar. Beautiful modern hotel with great position beside lake and just a few minutes drive from town. Very friendly and helpful owners and nothing was too much trouble. Hot tub is lovely and breakfast all home cooked and delicious
Located in Hallormsstaður, Mjóanes accommodations has a shared lounge, garden and BBQ facilities. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a children's playground. Our stay at Mjóanes was great! the best accommodation in Ring Road! the house has a complete kitchen available (we could cook our own food), comfortable bed and bathroom, and most importantly full of warmth! It is far enough from the city lights and we could see and take pictures of the Northern Lights every night! Thanks Elsa for taking care of us!
Amazing place to stay- felt like we were special guests in a very special place. The farm and cafe are really impressive and a relaxed setting to have breakfast, coffee and a walk- I recommend trying all three!
It as a small place where you can enjoy nature and peaceful scenery, unless you spot the lake monster :P We didn't use it but we saw there is a stable looking profesionaly. There is a forest nearby (you won't be impressed if you were to Białowieża Forest in Poland, but it is impressive and unusual on Iceland). There is also a waterfall to see. It's the third highest waterfall in Iceland, 128 meters. Called Hengifoss. Watch out: to see it, you need to hike up for about 2km (form the parking). Think of good hiking shoes, and if you schedule it in the morning you'll enjoy the sun at the right side. And if you reserve enough time you can hike down to the base of the waterfall and then go back and head to the top of the waterfall. Nearest town is Egilsstaðir. It's a civilisation centre. I'll take the risk to say: what you won't find there you won't find within hundreds of km. Take a tour in the local handwork shop you may find there unique art work (it's on Miðvangur street opposite to icelandiar hotel). And if you want to see how does look like an absolute end of the world: there is a little port and town Seyðisfjörður 25km form Egilsstaðir. Browse internet for further information, and once you get there don't miss fish of the day in Nordic Restaurant at Aldan Hotel.
We enjoyed our hike to see Hengifoss. We drove up 94 to see the puffins from here. The mountainous drive was beautiful. We also had good pizza at a reasonable price in the town on the fjord. The drive through snow fields to get there was also beautiful.
