If you're a fan of Italy's ancient castle towns, then Assisi should be on your list. As part of our brief trip to Umbria, this enchanting town completely won us over. Our hotel was perched in the upper part of the old town, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and the valley below. While the room was small, it was incredibly cozy, and the entire hotel exuded a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. Despite the building’s age, there were plenty of modern amenities—including a built-in elevator! I also appreciated the attention to fire safety throughout the property. And the buffet breakfast? The perfect way to kick off each morning. Assisi itself is packed with historical landmarks that could easily take days to fully explore—no surprise, as it's essentially the heart of the Franciscan order. Navigating the narrow streets of the old town by car was an adventure in itself. I’d recommend a small vehicle for this, but if you're not confident in tight spaces, there's convenient parking outside the old town walls. We absolutely loved our time in Assisi and our stay at Albergo La Rocca. It’s a must for anyone wanting to soak in the atmosphere of Umbria’s ancient towns.

The location is perfect. The rooms were very comfortable and big for the price point. The dining area was gorgeous and (for only 6€) the breakfast was amazing!

Everything was excellent. This is more of a retreat centre that na hotel but given I was on a pilgrimage with my 94 year old fathe tthis place was fantastic!

This stay provided a very comfortable experience, the staff were kind and always willing to help. The breakfast was delicious, and location was right next to the town square! We just walked everywhere from the accommodation!

Firstly, was the owner. Sig. Enrico Prezziotti. He went above and beyond to help us on really kind, human level. He did things not just out of business but because he's a good man. The hotel itself is beautiful. The entrance and reception have the scent of jasmine outside and it's lovely furniture makes you feel you are transported to a better, more civilised time. The room, beautifully furnished has a lovely view outside. The quality is of breakfast is wonderful. I didn't want to leave.

Location is perfection!! The view over the whole city is amazing with beautiful terrace and garden. Our room had a nice and big balcony too with the view. Staff were amazing and all thanks to Marco. The room is small, nothing special, but clean, cute and with comfortable bed and warm:) we liked everything!!

Helpful and communicative staff. Really pretty room with decorated walls and a vaulted brick ceiling. Nice location on the edge of the old town. Breakfast was great with for example focaccia, prosciutto, yogurt and granola, croissants as well as five delicious cakes The hotel felt professional yet genuine and personal Bed was comfy and big
