Set 1640 feet from the Greek Orthodox Basilica of Saint George, Mesha Stele Hotel Apartments offers accommodations with a shared lounge, a terrace and a 24-hour front desk for your convenience. There are many things that make for a wonderful travel experience, but one of the most important is the people. We discovered that the people of Jordan are some of the most welcoming in the world, and our host at Mesha Stele - Walid - was simply the best of the best. Walid was somehow on-call, working 24/7 to make sure our stay was absolutely perfect; not sure how he does it. We stayed at Mesha Stele twice - for two nights each time - before and after a 4-night visit to Jerusalem. In between we left most of our luggage with Walid for safe-keeping; he also kindly arranged for transportation to get us to the airport late at night. On both visits we were welcomed with a beautiful basket of fruit which was so delicious! On the roof is a shaded patio from which to view the city at roof-top level when the weather is nice. Granted, the hotel is rather dated, however, it is very clean and an amazing value for the money. It is located right in the heart of historic Madaba with all the sights within just a couple of blocks (and easy nexus from which to explore Mt. Nebo and Umm Al-rasas). We quickly became addicted to the inexpensive (JD2) and delicious shawarma meals served at numerous local take-outs.

I did not enjoy Madaba, there are far nicer places in Jordan. I liked Mount Nebo but would have preferred to do a day trip instead of staying 2 nights in Madaba. It lacked personality and things to do..
Our visit at the hot spring waterfall were truly amazing, even though many men were looking and acting very weird to us women - it seemed weird to them that we dared to try visiting the hot springs. The madaba village was nice but not that special to spend time at if you have limited time in Jordan, but it's quite although I doubt you could spend relaxing and safe time outside a hotel.
One of the dirtiest cities I have ever seen but with a lot of interests in the inner centre(which they try to keep a little bit cleaner). We stayed two days, the next usually everyone goes to Mount Nebo,we chose Mukawir instead and it was an unforgettable experience. No need to stay more than one day or two,the city is very expensive too(for the tourists of course...)
It’s a historic city that has christians and muslims living side by side a symbol of unity brotherhood connection to God. Prophet moses passed it as well prophet John’s be heading took place. Aspiritual place worth to be seen
Madaba was a taste of fresh air somehow after Wadi Musa and Wadi Rum. Streets were pleasant to walk around, small shops to take a look into, and we just found Madaba somehow...pleasant. it's quite small, the center areas I mean, so one day was totally enough for us.
Madaba was more surprising than we thought it would be. The mosaics are amazing but don't miss the Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist- explore the crypts (absolutely incredible) and climb the belfry -very few tourists seem to go there.
