A beautiful traditional guest house maintained beautifully. My hosts were wonderful and could not do enough to help and to make my stay enjoyable . I would come back to this part of Japan just to stay here. The dinner and breakfast were incredibly good .

Having frequented some of the most prestigious luxury hotels worldwide, I found this establishment to be peerless in its understated elegance. The architectural dialogue between the modern design and the original 1911 merchant storehouse (Kura) is nothing short of masterly. In Room 302—a private villa once used by a footwear merchant—the loft bedroom is nestled within the ancient walls. To look up from the open-ceiling living area and see the original beams that have carried the weight of a century is truly moving. The hospitality was equally refined; the staff welcomed us with a grace that felt both professional and deeply personal, sharing the soul of Kawasaki’s history as they guided us to our quarters.

Ise has 2 of the most important Shinto shrines in Japan, a recreated historical shopping street, Okage-Yokocho, and an original old warehouse neighborhood, Kawasaki-cho. The bus system makes it easy to travel around the city. There are also many rental e-bike stations around the city. Many shops and hotels around the main tourist areas speak English if needed, and I have found the public-facing staff to be very friendly in general.

Compared to bigger cities in Japan, Ise is very car-oriented...

Compared to bigger cities in Japan, Ise is very car-oriented and the trains and buses are rather infrequent. So knowing when the buses are coming and also planning to arrive early so you don't have to wait for multiple cycles of the bus is helpful. Most people who visit Ise are Japanese as it's a place with significance to Shinto, the native religion of Japan. I'm not Japanese but I have studied Japanese and can speak, understand, and read Japanese okay, but if I couldn't I would've had a lot of trouble getting around as there's very little English written. Otherwise, I felt that the town was very nice, I walked along the beach on the coast with the Married Rocks, and it was a beautiful view.

Ise shine plays a significant role in the Japan history.

Ise shine plays a significant role in the Japan history. The visiting helps me to understand the Japan history better. The married rock park is unique and beautiful with nice mixture of human structure and nature. The seafood there is delicious.

My interest is nature and Shrine.

My interest is nature and Shrine. For more nature experience a car would be helpful. The most meaningful Shrines of Japan: Naiku - Kōtaijingu and Geku - Toyo'uke-Daijingu. If you want and like to feel the spirit of Japan, this is the right place, but don't expect anything spectacular. Toba is another atmosphere, the feeling of the sea and sea people.

We loved our trip here.

We loved our trip here. Little did I know, I seem to enjoy travelling in a pretty laid-back city and Ise was just perfect for that. If you're craving for a small city experience, out from the other international travelers, I'd recommend Ise for sure.

I visited Ise to see and experience Ise Grand Shrine. I am interested in the mythology about Japanese shrines and also in the Imperial Family system. My parents visited Ise when they were young and I wanted to do the same trip.

This Ryokan is really beautiful, charming and well-preserved. The staff is very welcoming and helpful; yukata and tea were provided in the room. The traditional bath is shared but used privately by each guest, which is a treat after a day of walking! Location is 10 minutes walk from Ise station and there is a konbini and supermarket nearby.

Hotel close to station. Enjoyed talking with owner, very nice man and speaks English good, so there was no problem in communication. House is completely wooden so adds some different feeling. Definitely recommend for stayers in Ise.
