Everything was very clean and orderly. Beds were very comfortable and duvets very warm in colder November weather. Lovely common area and a nice shared kitchen with free evening rice and morning porridge. Access to private onsen which was a real treat! This was some of the best value for money I’ve seen - highly impressed! Completely exceeded my expectations.

This hotel is run by the kindest couple, and I’m still thinking about how good dinner and breakfast were. Some of the best meals of my trip! You can also order lunch for the trail. The onsen was wonderful after a long day hiking. Room was on the 3rd floor and very quiet, it was compact and simple, very clean, with everything you might need, including yukatas for dinner and towels for the onsen. Shared toilets and sinks in the hall were never busy; there are two communal showers inside the onsen. I asked about laundry and they took mine and washed it for me within a few hours! The bus stop to Shingu or Hongu was a one-minute walk from the hotel. Yunomine Onsen was such a unique town, I feel lucky to have stayed here and enjoyed such great hospitality!

Spectacular service, very clean, excellent Japanese meals with full explanations for foreign guests, very quiet traditional rooms with modern public areas, traditional Onsen (our room had its own toilet but bathing is public in separate male and female baths (this might seem like a big deal to some but we embraced it as rare opportunity to experience a traditional Japanese Ryokan. Stayed here 2 nights to complete the Hongu loop of the Kumano Kodo in one day (traveling to and from the property is possible using reliable and inexpensive public transportation; it will take a day to get there from Tokyo and another day to return). The staff speak excellent English and I can’t say enough about their professionalism and care for their guest’s comfort.

We had an amazing stay here! The hosts were extremely kind, welcoming and very approachable. Their English was excellent, so we were able to have really interesting and enjoyable conversations. For dinner we were served a delicious homemade Japanese curry, and the next morning they prepared a tasty breakfast as well as fresh sandwiches for our hike. There is also an onsen located nearby, which made the whole experience even more relaxing. The shuttle service from the end of the trail and back to the trailhead the next morning was incredibly convenient and really completed our Kumano Kodo experience. The apartment itself was very spacious, fully equipped and spotlessly clean, with reliable Wi-Fi as well. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and would definitely come back!

excellent property in the middle of Kumano Kodo. We were lucky to have a housing there. The place was spacious and had 3 separate rooms, each can have 2-3 beds. Had kitchen, dishes, and everything. Japanese traditional style house with a big garden.

The host, Bon (hope I spell that right) has been very careful with every inside detail; being welcomed with jazz music in a lovely, wood smelling place you come at ease as soon as you step inside. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and meticulously prepared. The bed was comfortable with an amazing view. Slept like a baby. Thank you Bon for helping me with fixing my hiking sticks! strong arms :) The whole place was very neat. One could use the washing machine as well, but there was no dryer. Next time I'll stay 2 nights.
