Renewed in 2013, Sakuraya offers affordable Japanese-style rooms with mountain or sea views. Free Wi-Fi is available at the public areas. Miyajima Ferry Terminal is a 3-minute walk away. I’d you’re staying on Miyajima, you need to understand that you don’t spend much time in your room aside from sleeping and bathing. That said, Sakuraya was the perfect place as their futons and single rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. The shared bath was also an amazing way to relax at the end of your day. The best part about this place is the location. It’s just a quick walk to the ferry and nearby the main strip of the island where all of the stores and the main shrine is located. Don’t forget to head up to Mount Misen on your visit — it can’t be missed!
Miyajima
Reopened in April 2014 after renovations, Miyajima Morinoyado offers comfortable guest rooms and a spacious public bath. The room was really nice traditional japanese style. The futon etc. was comfortable and we felt so moody in this amazing town. The location is also really nice. The staff took us from the ferry station by car, after settled we immediately started exploring around since its just out of the door. There is a small onsen also, clean. The staffs were also kind and helpful. We liked almost everything. There are almost no market in the town, and around there is no place you can buy something but luckly in the hotel, there is a small corner that you can find some snacks and noodle etc. But just be prepared even so, saying in advance.
Miyajima
Only a 5-minute drive from Miyajima Ferry Port with its free shuttle, beautiful ocean views can be enjoyed from Miyajima Seaside Hotel. Really friendly staff and good English speakers. Hotel is old but it has very traditional Japanese rooms
Miyajima
Located on Miyajima (Itsukushima), Miyajima Guest House Mikuniya offers a Japanese-style accommodations and a small garden. Free Wi-Fi is available. Miyajima Ferry Terminal is a 20-minute walk away. EVERYTHING ABOUT IT! We had a fantastic short stay in this very homey guesthouse. It is definitely faraway from the pier when you land and if you have a luggage, you will experience real struggle passing by the many people lurking around the area. However, after that, you will be surprised that this place is already a few steps away from the Momijidani Park. :) The owner was waiting for us outside because he wanted to make sure that we will find his cool house. There is a small sign outside the gate that says its name so you will know it is the guesthouse. It’s easier to find when you arrive during the day. The place is so serene! Very clean and old school style Japanese house with clean tatami floors and a receiving area. It has a sala with glass walls where you can view their nice garden, has computer attached to a huge tv and musical instruments that you can use anytime you wish to play. They have art area where you can try origami or caligraphy. There is a huge table to do it. They have lots of pamphlets and maps that will help you enjoy your stay in Miyajima. The best part for me is that they provision drinking water, coffee in an semi espresso machine, milk, sugar and bread crackers! You will never go hungry :) LOOOVEEE THE BREAD that they provision every morning. They sell beer for 200 yen only and also noodles for a good price. You can also cook in their house or even do the laundry in their machine but you have to use coins for it to work. Their have several shower areas! The space is good enough because it has a separate dry place where you can put your cloths and change cloths. The toilet is separate as well. They will provide face towels, cotton buds, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner and facial foam. Rooms are amazing too even if you share it with another traveller. I CAN ONLY SAY GOOD THINGS TO THIS PLACE FOR IT IS COMPLETE, CLEAN, COZY, HOMEY AND VERY AFFORDABLE!

Miyajima is a beautiful place. There are lots of interesting spots. The experience of riding the ropeway and the view from the top of Mount Misen is an unforgettable memory. Miyajima Public Aquarium is a great spot for kids. No need to worry about souvenirs or meals because there are many restaurants with local dishes and souvenir shops around the spot.
Everyone said you can see Miyajima in a day! No you can't, there are hidden corners and many opportunities to relax, learn and enjoy, to pack it all into a few hours is doing Miyajima an injustice. Stay the night, experience the island without the crowds. It is serene and magical. Unfortunately the Torii gates are currently shrouded in scaffolding but there is so much more to see and experience. The trip on the ropeway and the hike to the summit of Mt Misen needs at least 2-3 hours to really enjoy it. Take your time, I took lunch and ate it sitting by Kiezu-no Reikado (Eternal Fire Hall). Be prepared, the hike to the summit from the ropeway is quite strenuous in parts. There is much to see around the main shopping street. I wandered the streets away from here, enjoying the peace and the traditional properties. If you're a day tripper and time limited I recommend a visit to Daisho-In Temple rather than the more popular Itsukushima Shrine! Situated on the hillside wandered through the Precincts for over 90 minutes. Another highlight was enjoying the river running through Momijidani park - walk through the boulders that were washed down the river in the 1945 typhoon, if the weather is good sit on one other boulders that edges the river and dangle your feet in the ice-cold water. Next time - and there will be a next time - I want to do some of the more extensive hiking trails and visit the museums and I will definitely stay overnight.
We loved the deer on the island. Take cash - not many places accept card. We wanted to go on the ropeway, and in town we were told they take cards for fares at the ticket box. We walked up (it’s a long, steep walk) and they only took cash, of which I did not have enough for three tickets. Oh well, exercise never goes astray. The island is beautiful. Sit on the outside of the ferry for glorious views of the island and the mainland.
Wonderful hike up the mountain and very interesting shrines and temples all over the island. Great shopping and food options too. Not at all crowded and very quiet! Felt like a wonderful experience in nature and countered the idea we had that every spot in Japan is crowded!
Miyajima was beautiful and full of things to see, do and taste. I hiked up to the the top of Mt. Misen about 3 or 4km from the port. They also have a rope way (gondola), but I recommend the hike, which did not take too long. I saw some beautiful nature and a majestic deer. There are some things that are worth taking the effort to experience. There were also so many deer. One took half of the roasted chestnuts I bought. You should definitely try the oysters if you come here in the winter.
If you're going for the torii gate, you might want to wait, it's being done up at the moment and you can't see it, I dunno when it'll be finished though, you'd have to look that one up. The deer are cute, and they like to eat octopus by the looks of it, on american woman i saw lost hers to one, be on your guard around them if you have food, they're not shy about stealing it! Google maps didn't help me find it too well, but it's right on the waterfront, kind of near the marker.
Miyajima
Excellent traditional Japanese inn, located on a quiet back street of Miyajima away from the tourists but close to Itsukushima Shrine. Private bath was much appreciated by my friends who had never been in a Japanese bath before. Breakfast was filling and delicious (you got a choice of Western and Japanese). They don't use MSG in their Japanese stock.
Miyajima
Nice hotel in a good location, close to start of walk for the Mount Misen & amazing Daisho-in Temple. Not quite a completely traditional accommodation, feels a bit more like a hotel with traditional touches, but we loved wearing the traditional outfit for dinner and the room was very comfortable.
Miyajima
Loved the location very near the ferry port. I had a small bathroom with shower and toilet in the room and this was a bonus for a Ryokan. Also near the shops and shopping streets and local attractions as Miyajima is quite small and full of tourists but a pleasure. It all closes down at 6PM.
This apartment was bigger than most hotels on the island. With a full kitchen and private bathroom, this apartment was hands down the best for your money. The Hotel Villa Miyajima was right next door and they have a bar that stays open till 11pm.
Miyajima
Gracious, thoughtful staff paired with stunningly beautiful accommodations, all conveniently located. We'd highly recommend this place to others seeking a unique ryokan (and kaiseki) experience!
Miyajima
Authentic Ryokan experience. The staff was awesome. You can book a private onsen overlooking the shrine (although currently view is blocked for maintenance). Great traditional japanese dinner.
Staff was very polite and helpful, the buffet was good, beds were comfortable, room service was exceptionally fast and the main market area was within a 5-10 minute walk of the hotel
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location with a lovely backdrop of miyajima island Big spacious rooms, staff so friendly and food lovely with several options in the evening
Miyajima
Really love this tiny ryokan that is in the middle of the island. The stuff is really friendly and helpful, and it’s like a perfect Japanese style hotel, as said before.
Miyajima
The hot foot bath just outside the hotel was great especially since it was snowing. They staff was very kind and polite. We appreciated the Japanese style breakfast.
Great staff, did great job, always cleans, always been nice to as, and helpful. My next time in miyajma it would be again coral hotel.
