Hirafu (the main town around Niseko) is a vibrant ski town with lots of restaurants. I loved it. The skiing was great and so was the nightlife. You do not need a car if you stay in Hirafu. The only caution is that the town feels less Japanese and more “western,” with lots of western food and visitors from Australia, US and Europe. It felt less Japanese than I was expecting. For some visitors, that could be a plus. For others, it may be a negative.

Niseko is a very nice ski resort.

Niseko is a very nice ski resort. Everything is very well organised as in most Japanese ski resorts. The size of the ski resort and number of lifts allows to stay for a 2-3 days without feeling you rode this slope 10 times already. Connection with Niseko Village is not very convenient as you have to get quite high to move across. If you get there during peak season, book your restaurants way ahead otherwise, you will end up getting your food from the food trucks and Lawson. A mix of both will allow to manage your budget. Things are globally more expensive here than man other resorts.

    Very heavily commercialised.

Very heavily commercialised. Not a lot of Japanese culture to experience and very dominated by westerners. But having said that, communication in English was made very easy because of this! Incredible resorts, facilities and views. I can see why it's so commercialised and westernised though - because it's a geographically incredible spot. Probably one of the best snow resorts on the planet.

Lift management team did not seem very aggressive about...

Lift management team did not seem very aggressive about opening lifts despite long lines during holiday period. High wind was a factor... I do not recommend going to Niseko between Christmas and Australia Day. They are not investing to keep up with the popularity of Niseko -except on over-the-top heated bucket-seats (with headrests!) on the newer Hanazono 6-seat lift. Most skiers would prefer upgrade of the basics, rather than sugar-coating of lifts like this. Mountain food options are limited and uninspired. They need to visit the Alps to see how good mountain huts can be (while still keeping their unique Japanese style) Night skiing was surprisingly good and a sure way to get away from crowds.

    The powdery snow is perfect.

The powdery snow is perfect. But be prepared to walk up and down . The hotel where we stayed does not provide transportation services and its very hard to book a taxi. The worst case is when you carry your luggages to and from the Welcome Center to your hotel. The best experience is the clean and therapeutic onsen in the Niseko Park Hotel. My backpains were gone. The breakfast is superb. On my next visit, I will book in advance a taxi from the Welcome Center to Niseko Park Hotel. The map says its a 5 minute walk but if it snows and youre carrying luggages, it's a hell of an experience.

We had an excellent stay at Bistare Kana and are very glad we stayed there instead of one of the much more expensive hotels while we were in Niseko. The owner and his family are very friendly and accommodating, and provide an amazing complementary breakfast every morning at 8:00. The rooms are basic, but there are nice shared amenities available, including a coin operated washer and drier. The bathrooms and showers are nice and very clean, it never felt crowded since there are only 5 or 6 guest rooms in the building. Over all excellent week!

Loved everything about this hotel. Location was perfect. Staff (Peter) went above and beyond. Rooms were very comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast was incredible and should not be passed up. If you are skiing Niseko you will love the service to and from the mountain and the dry room and storage for all your gear, was great. The hotel Onsens were also a perfect way to relax at the end of the day. Also to note, all the soaps and shampoos provided in room and onsen were divine. All in all great stay would 100% repeat a visit here.

Even though the room is small, they have design it well in my opinion. very modern, clean, everything look so new. We can control the heater in the room as well. Staff mostly speak very good english and very much helpful. Hotel facilities also great. they have a dining area where you can sit or warm up your food. Location wise perfect. the shuttle bus to Hirafu and Hanazono is just right outside the hotel. We sure will come back to stay here if we visit Niseko again. Appreciate for a drive to welcome centre on our check oit day!

For a capsule hotel, I’m not sure how you could improve this place. The staff were very helpful and always available (eg providing the correct charger converter, bus timetable etc), the entire place was very clean, there was ample space given to each person (a large amont under the bed + a large ski locker to keep your skiwear), and if you’re skiing in Moiwa, you are right next to the resort you could not be any closer. The lodge is conveniently located around 4 onsen closeby (within a 20 minute walk).

The best host you could ever ask for and the location is just perfect. A few steps away from the Hirafu Jujigai (crossing bus stop) and the convenience stores, seicomart and Lawson. The cottage is perfect to fit 2-3ppl or maybe a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids). It’s nice and clean, the beds are comfy. There is a ski gears rental shop next door, so basically you can easily rent/buy the gears if needed. I will definitely stay again if I’m going back to Hirafu/Niseko. Very happy with our stay.

Location at the bottom of the family lift is excellent. It was the only lift that stayed open during inclement weather. This lift also gives access to the other lifts on Hirafu. The hotel sent very detailed information for ski rentals and in-apartment appliance usage. The onsen was very nice, although the changing area is small. The ski concierge service is convenient and friendly. Also very good service by the staff of the building. We were given a reserved, covered parking spot.

we been there before , other hotels were booked out so we booked this. safe, outdoor onsen, the convenience of the rental of ski gear. but of course you pay higher rental price as compared to hirafu. their concierge , Juri is exceptional. she made our stay way more pleasant by helping us to book restaurants for a few nights in hirafu and arrange transport for us. all the concierge barely can understand English but Juri solve all our dining issue for the few nights .

The staff was courteous, friendly, and helpful. The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was tremendous; what a great way to start each day. The room was beautiful with breath-taking views of the surrounding area. The ski/boot room was very convenient. A very short walk to the family lift, which made the rest of Grand HIrafu very accessible. Shuttle service from and to the welcome center and other resorts topped everything off.
