Typical Japanese guest house in Chikatsu. The guest is extraordinary, the dinner was really tasty and authentic. House is large with plenty of space, even for the kids to play. The guest offers games, beers (!!!!), and all that is needed for those trekking the kumano kodo. Even a super massage chair! Truly recommended

The interior design inside the room gives you a good combination of Japanese styled tatami and western styled of bedding. The family room is also spacious and clean. Therecate two TV sets in the family room as well. The reception staff is very professional in handling all our needs. We could store our luggage while we did the hiking. When we came back from Kumano Kodo to check in again, they already shift our luggage to our room.

Absolutely lovely place to stay, with truly spacious rooms. Incredibly helpful staff, almost foretelling guests wishes. We were treated like the most valuable guests, and that was a unique experience. Please however note, the hotel is a bit on the far side of Tanabe, so if you're not into walking, this may be an issue. It wasn't for us, as we came there for hikes and walks, so it was just great place. Also not sure if we were off season, but it looked like we were the only guests in the whole building.

We actually had the place to ourselves, so it was really quite and relaxing. The staff were so kind and there was so much food! :) The massage chair was such a pleasant surprise for our tired legs.

Amazing new place in Tanabe. Rooms are huge and incredibly comfortable. Tea and coffee provided on the house also very close to train station and Kumano Kodo information center.

Amazing Guest House Experience – Highly Recommended! I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this guest house, and it exceeded all my expectations! 1️⃣ Perfect Location: The guest house is right next to Kii-Nagashima Station and sits directly on the Kumano Kodo trail, making it an ideal choice for hikers. You can start your trek right from the doorstep—so convenient! 2️⃣ Delicious Meals: The host prepares incredible meals! The lunch box (bento) was especially great for taking on the hike—tasty, filling, and packed with energy. Breakfast and dinner were also fantastic! 3️⃣ Thoughtful Hospitality: Since it was the rainy season, my shoes got completely soaked. The host kindly dried them for me using a dryer—such a considerate gesture that made a huge difference! 4️⃣ Great Sake & Umeshu: During dinner, the host shared some amazing sake and umeshu (plum wine). Both were delicious, especially the umeshu—sweet and smooth, a perfect way to unwind after a long hike. 5️⃣ Easy Communication: The host speaks both English and Chinese and even uses WeChat, which made communication effortless. As a Chinese speaker, I really appreciated this! 6️⃣ Perfect Stay Overall: Everything—from the cozy room to the food, drinks, and hospitality—was outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would 100% recommend it to anyone hiking the Kumano Kodo.
