We had a wonderful stay at Guesthouse Okagesan! It was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. It was amazing to have the whole house to ourselves (great value for money) and there were a lot of thoughtful touches around the home including good heating, a coffee maker and snacks. Our host was fantastic and left us onigiri every morning. Would definitely stay again!

This was an excellent stay for me and my family. We missed our bus in Hongu to Kawayu and asked for help from the Kumano Tourist Information Centre. They called the hotel and the manager came right over to pick us up. Both the manager and his sister who was manning the counter were very kind and helpful. The location was wonderful - directly opposite the Onsen river, and next to the bus stand. Food (Dinner and Breakfast) was prepared and delivered freshly according to our time and it was very tasty. Rooms were a bit cold but comfortable. Overall, this was an excellent experience. Highly recommended for anyone considering Kawayu Onsen

Very nice hotel with their own onsen onsite (public and private), which I enjoyed a lot. You can visit both throughout the day (even in the middle of the night). I would definitely recommend to get dinner and breakfast, there was an interesting variety of local and traditional dishes, which were very delicious. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. It's a great hotel I wish I would have spend more than a night in. It exceeded my expectations and I hope I will be back one day!

This such a beautifully made guesthouse. Our host was so kind in picking us up and taking us places we needed to go. He is also a carpenter and made this guesthouse himself!! The windows frame the views of the valley around gorgeously. We went to the hosts ramen restaurant down the road which is one of the best ramens we’ve had so far. Great stay, wish we could have stayed for longer.
