Mgoza exceeded my expectations! The staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful, the views overlooking the lake is breathtaking and the food is great. Amazing value for money! We slept really comfortably and the fan in the room was a life saver. It was really hot during our stay, but the lodge is located under big trees which made the chill / restaurant area nice and cool. Would highly recommend when visiting Cape Maclear

I visited Monkey Bay with my two adult sons on a self-drive tour of Malawi in October 2026. Katawa Cottage has a few separate houses for guests, which were in excellent condition, with everything working perfectly in a country where this is not easy to achieve. Dinner was excellent, drinks were on an elevated platform overlooking Lake Malawi, and breakfast was served in a separate garden pavilion. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful: for example, they had our car washed, and when I forgot my charger, they went to great lengths to make sure that I got it back while still on my trip.

Located in Monkey Bay, Kulenga Village provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a restaurant and a bar. There is a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and free toiletries.

This place is one of the very few places I would like to spend longer time as a retiree and I have visited more than 50. The personal and George expecially are very helpful and cooperative. Thanks to him I got a good cabin on m/v Ilala.
