It seemed a noisy and garish resort town, with ATVs roaring...

It seemed a noisy and garish resort town, with ATVs roaring through the main street at all hours and streets filled with nothing but tchotchke shops. Interesting sights can only be accessed by very long and mundane hikes or by booking a tour. Our guide was excellent however. We did have good meals.

Nice little town, there is few attractions to see nearby, Veru nice museum right at the train station focused on Raramuri - indigenous people from this area - their way of life, art etc Pleasantly surprised with state of street dogs - this town - unlike neighbouring others does look after them, with food stations on the street

Creel has good tours half day or full day.

Creel has good tours half day or full day. People are friendly and helpful. Starting point for El Chepe Express to Los Mochis or finishing point if on El Chepe Express from Los Mochis. Or El Chepe Regional can catch from Creel to Chihuahua or Chihuahua to Creel. We did All of El Chepe Express in both directions over a few days and Regional from Creel to Chihuahua at end of trip. Also a full day touring locally.

Creel is interesting on tours also Starting point for El Chepe Express or finishing point. You can also catch El Chepe Regional from Creel to Chihuahua or from Chihuahua to Creel. We did express from Creel in stages to Los Mochis. Then from Los Mochis in stages to Creel. Then later El Chepe Reginal from Creel to Chihuahua. Great experiences

We took El Chepe to Creel from Divisadero on recommendation...

We took El Chepe to Creel from Divisadero on recommendation of it being 'lovely'. Actually isn't really anything there at all but a small town on the El Chepe line . There are a few 'local' tour spots but these were largely disappointing and very laughable , like 1 huge stone that looks like a frog from one angle only ....and mushroom stone where the top has been cemented to the bottom hey ho . The tour of the Stone Monks is worth a visit. The bus from Creel to Chihuahua is easy and we came out a day early with no problem just using same ticket. Journey between was interesting and different from the train ride so as a stop off to do both train and bus is probably worth it. Creel is due to open an international airport opened in June 2023 which I think will change the whole place but not sure give it much more . Visit Copper Canyon though is a must do.

It's small town family oriented.

It's small town family oriented. They cater to tourists and have plenty of stores and restaurants and are adequate in roads. This ain't the Ritz but to me has a charm unique to Copper Canyon. The newly completed airport is scheduled to open in March 2023 and growing pains should be natural for expansion. Just probably my favorite area for scenery in Mexico including Durango. Adventurous spirit is a plus, but the land is superior. Tours and rentals abound. Peaceful.

Very well decorated room and communal areas. Especially liked the sitting area and balcony on the first floor right outside our room. Staff very helpful. Provided coffees from reception and moved our breakfast earlier as we were booked on the El Chepe at 8am, although this was a very short walk from the hotel. Breakfast was very good and authentic Mexican menu.
