Everything! Ixum was an absolute dream, the room and all the spaces are stunning and super comfortable. The staff are lovely and helpful. It was a unique and authentic experience, so magical, the perfect way to spend my last night in Mexico. The restaurant was also outstanding, a lot of love goes into everything. Highly recommend!

I loved the place. Very quiet and peaceful location.The owner was there to welcome us. Happy that he advised us to opt for uber which is much cheaper to get around. From the airport we had a very expensive arrangement so the opton for Uber was great and cheaper. The location is in a quiet neighbourhood and near to everything; streetfood near Soraya supermarket. Oxxo is very close and a bigger supermarket Soraya is 15 minutes away with ATMs there, fruits and cakes and pastries and everything one requires. I will stay again before my flight out of Cancun.

breakfast is great, location is very convenient, close to bus station, to night market, if you like to experience local life, not only staying in hotel zone, good choice for you. Rooftop also great with beautiful view and gym! This building is not far from nearest beach, when jogging ,just take 15 minutes. Will book agagin for next trip to Cancun.

We did not like Cancun.

We did not like Cancun. It's become victim of its own success and got perverted by over tourism. Everything is extremely expensive and significantly overpriced compared to the rest of Mexico. The vibe is nothing very Mexico-like. It's somewhat become an extension of Miami with a little more Latino accent. Everything is optimized towards getting more money from your pockets. If you are looking for a cheap and more authentic Mexican experience, this is the total opposite. We hated it.

I did not get the WOW effect of Cancun. I liked some things. The distance from the hotel zone to most siteseeing places were too far away and expensive and the private taxi/tour operators are not trustworthy and the store workers are unfriendly and not helpful especially at 7 eleven. Also the store attendant will tell you that the sim cards will activate for internet usage only to know that it is not true. Also they constantly change the conversion value of the US dollar which was a big turn off

I wouldn't go back there right now.

I wouldn't go back there right now. You can't enjoy the beaches or the water at all. Seaweed everywhere and it's a huge problem and the stench is horrible. Until they figure out how to stop it I wouldn't return. Maybe time for a new destination for me to find.

Beware of taxis- rates change depending upon the driver, and don't accept offers to pre-pay for return trip from resort to airport; common experience of overpricing on items, so check your receipts when you get home compared to bank pulls- we were charged double for some items, charged twice for taxis, etc. Lovely people, lovely scenery, beautiful water, very kind community.

I am a nature lover and not particularly drawn to the beach...

I am a nature lover and not particularly drawn to the beach party scene, so this information is for others in my sandals. Warning: the beautiful and vast stretches of white beach you see in all the pictures are largely gone. Already plagued by an extra intense dose of seaweed ("sargassum") even by local standards, sea rise has eroded the shorelines considerably. Water is dark with churned up vegetation so there is zero visibility when swimming and snorkeling off-shore is completely out of the question. If this is part of your baseline expectation (as it is for me), budget and plan for ferries to Isla Mujeres and Cozumel. The shores of these islands that face the mainland are sheltered from this phenomenon and will provide the pristine experience you seek. There are free beaches on both islands that you can snorkel in safe waters and see natural wildlife. Most resorts have enough beach to sit and sun on but walking down great lengths of shoreline (a favorite activity) can be effected by erosion-control measures and piles of raked up rotting seaweed which stink. If you are prepared to work through this disappointment, there is still much to enjoy. We also visit during the peak of seaweed bloom so I cannot speak for other times of year, but I can tell you the erosion is shocking. Snorkeling excursions to pristine places are still awe-inspiring but require planning and additional expense, so plan for a few of these!

Too expensive. For the price they charge, too few amenities. Housekeeping staff very friendly. Front desk the tall young guy, saw him on last day, on 8 July 26. So rude. Dude, learn to speak with respect to a 70 year old man. Making fun of your accent and dismissing your problems… just not right. Going back with so much bitterness. So many better options available. Give this place a miss. Don’t let this resort spoil your mood

Cancun was our first destination, making Los Girasoles our initial accommodation in Mexico. We decided against staying in the hotel zone as it seemed unnecessarily overpriced to us.It was the right choice, Everything was clean and functionally furnished. The location is excellent as restaurants, ATMs, and bus stops are within walking distance. Definitely advisable if you're looking to stay in Downtown Cancun. They also offer breakfast of you want and a water refill :).
