You need a truck or a tall car with full gas, because there is no gas station on town. The place is excellent for rest, there's no cellphone signal, only wifi in some places. But the views and the food are incredible, unbelievable and very fresh!!! I don't recommend to go with babies, because of the distance and the mosquitos. In the town you can find typical and local restaurants, where you can pick your own lobster, there are small stores to buy some groceries or snacks. As an attraction there are some tours that take you to know the surroundings by boat, and you can swim in clearly, amazing and calm water. You will see dolphins, turtles and other animals of the region, you can practice snorkeling and even diving if you want. A great place to stay and learn of the nature.
We loved Punta Allen so much. We went on a family trip to Cancun over Christmas (high season) and we were mortified by the low level mafias of taxistas, waiters (outside of our hotel) and service industry people all trying to make the most money possible during the holidays- they even had the audacity to charge us in dollars!! We were staying at the Royal Holiday Cancun with extended family; a mass market nightmare full of naughty loud children and lazy adults! We debated whether to cut our holiday short, when we (my partner and I) decided to just rent a car and drive away from the crowds. After two long hours and passing through Tulum's high season traffic we arrived to the Sian Ka'an biosphere. What a beautiful place! We drove through it to the extreme opposite side (south) and arrived to Punta Allen; a picturesque fishing village trapped 50+ years in the past. For the next few days we saw dolphins, went snorkeling at a huge reef, stayed at a remote cottage property with a great kitchen, ate the best homemade macaroons, enjoyed walks/runs in the middle of nowhere, saw more stars than ever and met eclectic international travelers.
Google map the area...Wish we had! Abondon cars, garbage and burned down buildings. Beautiful beaches!! Really wanted to love PA. We left....Not where I want to spend vacation! We backpack and camp, so not picky. We spent time in the Sian Reserve...Boat trip and beach time...Deserted and lovely, but that can be done from Tulum.

Villa Rosaliz is fabulous for what and where it is. It’s beautiful location by the beach in the very remote and fairly difficult town to reach - Punta Allen - is great. The rooms are spare and clean, although the shower is minimally useable, and Leah is responsive and friendly. Not a high end place, it’s perfect if you are looking for a solid lodging destination.
