The family behind La Familia could not be more kind and welcoming. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in San Blas. The room was spacious and immaculate, the courtyard was lovely, the morning coffee was most welcome. Breakfast is only served on weekends, but an excellent breakfast can be had at Las Tradiciones 3 or so blocks away. It's about a 20 minute walk to the beach (no hotels on Playa Borrego) or a 50 peso cab ride. There is a taxi stand on the street just down from the hotel. A word of advice: take the warnings about the famous San Blas jejenes/sandflies seriously and wear your repellent outdoors, especially early morning and around sunset.

Location is away from boomy audio of the tourist areas. Very close to town center. Rooster crowing in the evening, which may disturb those who are not used to roosters. It's not as noticeable in the room with windows closed and AC on. Slept roundly, and the lock on the door works well. There IS hot water in the shower. Staff is friendly.
