Het Weeshuis is located in the city center of 'Hanzestad' Bolsward and offers accommodations set in a monumental building and former orphanage. Breakfast was fabulous. Truly a Dutch breakfast with meats, cheeses, fresh local breads, muesli, granola, yogurt in individual glass containers, fresh juices, coffee made to order - absolutely wonderful. You could eat either in the large dining space at a communal table or several smaller tables or outside if the weather cooperated in their lovely garden space.

Set in Greonterp, 9.3 mi from Sneek, B&B Boerderij De Tempel offers a garden and free WiFi. A continental breakfast is available every morning at the bed and breakfast. It is a clean, neat and rustic place in the country side of Friesland. They provided a good breakfast, plus the hostess was very nice preparing it very early morning specially for me. It is an excellent cost/benefit and certainly a place that I recommend to visit.
It is a beautiful town, with a lot of history and museums. I also liked the architecture and atmosphere of Bolsward. Unfortunately it was really cold and raining hail so we did not see as much as we planned. So we plan on going back when it is spring or summer and stay a bit longer so we will have more time and better weather to walk thru the town.
We were in Friesland to visit family and Bolsward is centrally located. the town center has lovely shops and comes alive in the evening with a number of small cafes offering a nice variety of food/beverage options in a more intimate setting. It is a historic town and reflects the canal history of the region with a lot to see and do within a 20 minute drive either direction. They have a newer distillery making really fine whiskeys - Fryske Hynder. Take a walk in their old cathedral - uniquely maintained after a fire. Several fine bakeries and specialty shops as well.
