Great care taken on the details and finishes in the room- fresh fruit, water available and some toys for the kids. They can also play in the little courtyard. Bar and restaurant are also really nice. Very nice location, quiet, comfortable, close to everything. We came on bikes and storage facilities were perfect - secure, very near by, and easy to access. Room was comfortable, the staff was attentive and helpful. We'd stay here again!

Dokkum is a delightful little town in the north of Friesland...

Dokkum is a delightful little town in the north of Friesland, a province in the northern part of the Netherlands. Quite historic. The centre of town is surrounded by canals and ‘bolwerken’ on which a few still operating classic dutch windmills are located. Brilliant views all around. One can walk around the entire town in about 30-45 minutes. There are plenty good restaurants and bars, even on boats in the canals. Great little town!

Dokkum is an historical city in Friesland and features as one of the 11 cities of the Elfstedentocht. Dokkum was the turning point for the famous ice skating race. To appreciate the city history, walk the city streets and note the monuments. Stroll along the grachts and read the colourful history information posts regarding the punishment of pirates. Stop in at JB for a great meal with delicious drinks and friendly service. Boutique shopping and restaurants can be found along the grachts and character-filled streets. Free parking areas outside of the city area are an easy walk to the city. Visit the other 10 Elfstedentocht cities to appreciate their history and character.

What a beautiful little town...

What a beautiful little town...I would have loved to explore a bit longer. Lovely shops, a museum...I'll definitely be back. We ate at De Waagh, which is right in the heart of the city center. Delicious food and drinks! Breakfast at KNUS. I want more of these places! Dokkum is a great starting point for mudflat hiking or boating.

We had no negative experiences.

We had no negative experiences. A lovely old town center, charming historical buildings, and plenty of Bonifatius. There's a nice Eleven Cities monument in the form of a Frisian walk-through bench. There are some nice restaurants and a bus station with good connections to the rest of the province.

Dokkum is a lovely town, lively yet not overcrowded.

Dokkum is a lovely town, lively yet not overcrowded. Lots of shops and boutiques. It's very charming and inviting. Free parking is a bonus. There's also plenty to do nearby, such as the Wadden Sea, the turning point of the Elfstedentocht (Eleven Cities Tour), and many other beautiful spots.

Couldn't do much because of the weather.

Couldn't do much because of the weather. Only visited the museum, which was really fun, and took a boat trip. Dokkum has some lovely streets. We ate at Pizzeria Romano KB Food & Drinks. We'll definitely go back to Dokkum, same B&B for a week.
