Travelers who stayed in Bodø near Bodø Airport (BOO) have said good things about Thon Hotel Nordlys, Thon PartnerHotel Skagen, and Radisson Blu Hotel Bodø.
Bodø has grown to be a place to visit without hesitating. Good accomodations, decent restaurants, an interesting culture scene and a mindblowing nature! Just remember to dress the wind out and you’ll be fine!
The aviation museum is very good with sections on military and civil aviation. Bodo is a small place so we walked everywhere. Ther are Bird electric scooters and busses & taxis. Pleasant clean place with posh hotels and nice waterfront and harbour. We did come in late June and had great sunny weather: probably very different in the rain!
We visited Bodø for a football match from ECL. The town is not massive and you can walk from the airport to the centre in about 15-20 minutes. The streets were covered in ice, however by talking to the locals we found out that the weather has surprised them with snow and showers afterwards which resulted in the icy cover, though the town is clean and tidy. The locals are warm and lovely people. We engaged in friendly conversations everywhere we went and most of the time this turned into sipping pints together. Definitely not a party hot-spot if you visit in the middle of the week in the middle of the winter. All in all I will go back to explore more of the local area and nature and would recommend it friends and family. P.S. Please be aware that the prices in Norway are extremely high (double) compared to the rest of Europe and you most probably will get shocked at first.
The Aviation Museum (photo above). Lots of aircraft well displayed. Trip to Saltstraumen to see the 'whirlpool'. What you see, if anything, depends on the tide, and in any case never looks like a whirlpool. But views on the the bus trip (timetable on the Sentrum bus stop, service 200) and from the bridge at Saltstraumen are great.
Small town, the bits that are really exciting are the areas of natural beauty outside the town. It’s a bit difficult to sightsee without the car, so maybe time your trip to cover weekdays in Bodø so that there is more public transport available. I got a coach to the Maelstrom which was stunning. It’s a cute little town though, but quiet in Winter!
My son and I spent the whole day walking around - from the sea front to the city centre and there were cafe's everywhere, nice shops and picturesque views. It is a safe place to walk at night as well. There were lots of leaflets for activities options at the Hostel and the Hostel staff were on hand to give advice. The Hostel is actually situated in the Railway Station building so it's very convenient for those wanting to take the train anywhere. There are plenty of taxis right outside the door too.
The Thon brand seems to offer always very good hotels: modern, and comfortable rooms, excellent buffet for breakfast, all amenities (on the harbor) next to restaurants and bars. Parking was not difficult as there is possibility to park without a fee for the night along the main street on the harbor. It was an excellent choice before heading for the ferry which was going to Lofoten islands the next day.
The hotel is well located right in the center of Bodo and about a 15 min walk from the airport. The staff was very professional and friendly. All the meals were excellent. The afternoon complementary cake is a nice touch. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. We had a great stay.
The young lady working at the front desk was friendly, helpful. (She had an Irish accent) Nothing else. The Hotel is really dated in the middle of a construction area, no view. And not much cheaper than the other hotels.

When I make book in. It was column, where I have to write when I arrived. I write that I arrived fro 01.00-02.00. In this time I was in your hotel, but is no waiting room for clients.
This is a friendly little hotel. My room was bright and airy - simple but a good size with everything I needed, and a nice view over the street. Very good value for money.
Really nice Hotel in the heart of town. Awesome views (if you are higher up), good breakfast (even vegans can eat, which is rare in Norway), and really friendly staff.
The location and view from the hotel are amazing. Breakfast choice was great with lots of fresh products. The staff was friendly and helpful.
I chose this hotel for its location as I was going to do a WW2 tour to honour my cousin who died fighting to save Norway.
Nice staff, clean rooms and perfectly located in Bodø. Breakfast was very good. All you need.
