Located in Sandvika, within a 17-minute walk of Kadettangen Strand and 1.8 miles of Hovikstranda Beach, Forenom Serviced Apartments Sandvika offers accommodations with free WiFi. I am very happy with the stay at this property. Easy key code access and the apartment was in perfect condition. I loved the kitchen facilities!
Located in Asker, 1.5 miles from Hvalstrand Bad Beach, Hvalstad Hostel provides free WiFi. The nearest airport is Oslo Airport, 32 miles from the family stay. The hostel is very conveniently located just in front of the railway station Hvalstad (within the Asker municipality), from which you have trains to Oslo every 30 minutes (travel time 25 minutes to Oslo Sentral), and still within zone 2, so all Oslo zone transportation tickets (including Oslo Pass) are stil valid for the travel to and from there. The only issue was to find it on the first days, as there is no mark outside or even inside informing that this is the Hvalstad Hostel, so if you arrive at a time that nobody is arround (like it happened to us) you may only guess this is it, and enter the building (it was open), and then just sit in the lobby and wait for someone to come. We waited about 20 minutes before some person (another inhabitant of the hostel) arrived and told us how to contact the owner/manager by phone. He immediately told us which room we should enter, and we could do this without waiting for him (the room was prepared, open, the key waiting inside on the table). He himself appeared to see us only ca. 15 minutes later, when we were already unpacked. The owner/manager is a very kind person, he apologized for all the inconveniences explaining them by the short time of functioning of the hostel (new investment). And he was very helpful too, despite not being any office in the hosterl itself, he answered all phone calls to him, and whe we needed our boarding card to be printed before our departure, he offered to us that he would print them and bring to us, if I only send them to him by email. Which was done, with a smile. Despite being very close to the railway, it is not very noisy, even in the room facing the railoard and the station (like we had). The sounds of the station are easily bearable. The trains in bothe directions arrive almost simultaneously, every 30 minutes, and they are quiet, and there is rarely any other train passing by.

I found a reasonably priced accommodation in Sandvika during a time when it was incredibly hard to find something similar in Oslo. It worked quite well for my conference stay due to its nearness to Norway's capital, but there were some drawbacks as well. Every car trip to Oslo had an additional toll of around 52 NOK, and there was significant traffic in both directions. Also, by not having a hotel parking place in the city, it was quite expensive to park there. On the plus side, Sandvika has a great sights at Kalvøya island, and is a home to the best youth basketball team in Norway.
Did not feel safe here, went to see a movie and did not feel safe. Wanted to see the police around to make sure it was safe to go home after the movie. Moved the car closest to the cinema because of this.
Super room and breakfast. Hotel just beside Norway’s largest shopping centre.
