After 3 days at Bergen went for a day there. Nice harbour front, not to be missed is the Oil & Gas museum by the waterfront. Can spend hours there understanding how oil shaped Norway's economy. Lots of good places to eat and shop. Definitely a place to cover if you are into oil and gas in any way.

Stavanger is a lovely small city with a lot of nice restaurants and shops. From Stavanger you can easily go to Preikestolen to hike which i recommend everybody.
I've eaten in multiple restaurants and bars and they are all worth it! But, for a non-Scandinavian person, the prices are very high.

although you may not always like the weather, it's highly probable you will like the people and the locals.
I've spent 8 years earlier in this city studying and working, and now I am considering to move back, if a proper opportunity comes up. This already explains a lot.
Welcome to Stavanger.

Neat tidy small city, but hilly.
Neat tidy small city, but hilly. Mainly cobbled pedestrian streets which are easy to get around. Shopping very expensive and in virtually cash free. Use a card for everything - preferably pre-loaded with Krone.
Some great museums and these are very good value. Other attractions are, like the shopping, are very costly and probably designed to extract the maximum amount from the tourists. This is very noticeable when the obscenely large cruse ships arrive and disgorge thousands of passengers,
Plenty of restaurants and bars, but don't go looking for Norwegian food.
You can have your pick of Chinese, Thai, Indian etc... and try not to be too shocked by the prices.
We really liked Stavanger and would happily recommend it, but remember that Norway is an expensive country, so be prepared to budget for it.

Stavanger is beautiful and I will absolutely go back.
Stavanger is beautiful and I will absolutely go back. We came to hike the pulpit. Absolutely beautiful and sunny. I recommend starting early.
We started at 8 am with not too many people.
A different story when we were coming back down. Stavanger and the The Pulpit or Preikestolen was absolutely wort a visit. The Norwegian engineering of the tunnels are amazing. 4 bars on my cell the whole way through the tunnels below the water.
Excellent hotel located very conveniently just outside the city centre. Wonderful breakfast, you must try the breakfast plate, it will give you all you need for a great start of the day! Breakfast location is also simply perfect, you can seat at tables with a variety of shapes and seatings, surrounded by gorgeous smells coming from the bakery!! Room is fairly basic, but very clean and practical. Bus stop at the doorstep with excellent links to city centre, university, train station and other points of interest, I assume.
Everything was perfect. We definitely come back and recommend friends. The rooms are clean and have a great design. Breakfast is rich in choice.
The employees are very nice, we travel a lot, so they are definitely one of the nicest employees in Norway!
The hotel is pet friendly - our little friend loved it too.
By far the best choice in Stavanger. The hotel has an amazing location, the staff is great always willing to help whatever you need and buffet breakfast is delicious with many options. The rooms were clean very spacious.
Very good freshly prepared breakfast. The hotel is in a quiet location in the university quarters, a fair distance from the city centre. For the quality of accomodation the price was really good.
