Beautifully decorated room with fabulous views of the harbour. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The bathroom floor was heated! The hotel is on the boardwalk with all the best restaurants & within walking distance of trains, buses, boats, museums. Very pretty city! Tonsberg has a nice centre with many restaurants to chose...

Tonsberg has a nice centre with many restaurants to chose from especially along the harbour (still busy at weekends in late August) and a pretty promenade along the fjord to Nordbyen. We managed to take the bus to Verdens Ende, and the beautiful car-free island of Veierland as well as the train to Oslo, during our 4 day stay, using the wonderful public transport system and VKT and VY apps

Disappointing stay in Tønsberg – poor hospitality and zero accountability My experience in Tønsberg was ruined by an unacceptable apartment booking situation. The host canceled on arrival due to “double-booking,” gave no assistance, and the alternative accommodation was dirty and poorly managed. It’s shocking that in a busy summer town like Tønsberg, some hosts feel entitled to treat visitors this way – with no responsibility or professionalism. This left me with no trust in local hosts and no desire to return. Tønsberg may be charming, but this level of service is not.

Having grown up in Tonsberg, I am biased but this town is the oldest town in Norway and full of history. It is particularly a summer paradise, but also a great base for exploring other parts of Norway with excellent rail links.

Lovely cosy little place, well equiped kitchen comfortable bed, the bedding was so nice and soft too, a real home from home. Perfect for a small family or couple, I wouldn't take a toddler as there are some steep steps to the loft bed. Trransport from the airport was easy, shuttle to Torp station from the airport, train to to Tønsberg then bus from Tønsberg bus station takes 10 minutes, apartment is 2 minutes from the bus stop which run every 10 minutes during the day, 2 minute walk to the beach which is stunning and so peaceful.

We booked this hotel because we were worried about staying near the pier in Tønsberg where it might be noisy over the weekend. Since it was a hot summer, keeping the window open was essential. Plus there were parking options nearby that might be less busy than along the waterfront on the day of the concert at Foynhagen. The hotel has a lot of common areas to relax in the lobby and on tables outside. Breakfast was a warm welcome in the cafe on the property. The room was clean and comfortable and not too far a walk into town.

The location is excellent - just a short walk from the train station, and I love that the hotel is right on the waterfront. Breakfast was delicious, offering a wide variety of options and great coffee. I also appreciated being able to check in a little earlier than the standard time, at no extra charge, thanks to room availability. The hotel staff were kind and helpful, and the floor heating in the bathroom was an exceptional touch that made the stay even more comfortable.

The breakfast was the best of the trip: the Chef added a bit of magic to everything. Outside, the town of Tønsberg is amazing. Try Roar for the sweetest prawns ever and the “little” shopping centre for everything. Afterwards, the scenery, bars and restaurants cannot be outdone.
