The accommodation itself was clean, comfortable and as described. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it because of the way I was treated by the owner. My arrival was met with an extremely rude, abrupt and disrespectful attitude. I have rarely experienced such poor hospitality, and I was made to feel genuinely unwelcome from the very beginning. Basic courtesy and respect towards a guest should be a minimum, regardless of any circumstances. What makes this experience even more disappointing is that it was completely contrary to everything I had experienced in New Zealand before this stay. Throughout my trip, I have encountered exceptionally friendly, kind and welcoming people — in other accommodations, restaurants, cafés and simply in everyday interactions. This was genuinely the first time I experienced such an unpleasant attitude in this country. It is a real shame, because the accommodation itself is perfectly fine. However, a B&B is not only about providing a clean and comfortable room; hospitality and the way guests are treated are equally important. Unfortunately, the owner’s behaviour completely overshadowed the positive aspects of the property. For this reason, despite the accommodation being clean and well maintained, I would not choose to stay here again.
