The Gables B&B is both very spacious, well equipped with a small kitchen, and super cozy! If you are hiking in the park nearby, this is a great place to stay. The star gazing at night is also fantastic since there is so little light pollution!!

Spent 8 nights at four Okahune motel/apartments in early October. The town centre and the railway station front are the major leisure venues. I have taken a lot of photo/video streams in town and along the road to Turoa ski field. Accommodation and F&B services are above average, and many selections. Many local activities(rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking and most importantly, snow sports) are available, and the tourist info centre is well located, and the staff there are helpful and welcoming. picturesque town with snowy mountain, stream and falls to visit.

Really lovely township to stay out for visits to Mount Ruapehu - great selection of food venues (both takeaway like La Pizzeria or dine in like Cypress Tree). Carrot Land adventure park is a great visit for little kids.

Ohakune is a town still recovering from COVID and some not so good ski seasons, but it is beautiful and well worth the visit. Apart from skiing and snowboarding, the mountain is a beautiful place to hike, mountain bike, or just visit for the view. Ohakune is small and easy to get around, with great cafes and restaurants. The ski shops are fantastic with really helpful staff (TCB is amazing).

The apartment was very cold gas fire did not give off much heat the was a tiny fan heater which did warm one bedroom up ,beds were comfy no milk when we arrived no homely touches . This apartment is over priced Carol and Tony

Ohakune has a great selection of stores, cafes, restaurant...

Ohakune has a great selection of stores, cafes, restaurant and bars along with a supermarket (New World) and other great attractions such as Ohakune Hot Tubs. Would highly recommend Mountain Kebabs if you're hungry, so good and owner been there 30 years! Pop into The Chocolate Eclair Store which has some great goodies and good coffee. Its also close to Turoa ski field (22-25 minutes) and Whakapapa Ski field and Village (40 minutes). Plenty of other tourist spots like Gollum's Pool etc. Worth the stay if you want to explore close to the mountains.

I was so excited to stay at Kings Ohakune given how much of an institution it is in the town and the history attached to it. The hotel does exactly what it promises - no frill accomodation with exactly what the guests are looking for - good beds and good showers. I would have loved to have checked out the restaurant, however, they were closed on the Monday when we stayed. The owner of the hotel was very kind to give us recommendations of other places to eat and a room upgrade. Will definitely be back.

Super clean and warm and Dara was amazingly accommodating as was Scott. Incredibly grateful for a fabulous stay & wish I had more time to chill in the lovely studio. Gorgeous cat Stripes was the star of the show and a lovely homely touch to a fantastically located motel. Highly recommend staying here if you’re ever in Ohakune.

Easy 10 out of 10. The property was well equiped, spacious and the view to the mountain was captivating. Hosts (and local cat) were friendly and checked to make sure everything was to our liking. We’d love to come back. Ohakune is such a nice little town with all the basics you could want or need.
