Centabay was my favourite hostel that I stayed at in New Zealand!!! I loved the vibrant atmosphere, the lovely backpacker-staff and the wonderful manager who was always a joy to chat with. The prices are incredibly reasonable for a place in the middle of Paihia, and you can tell the manager isn't in it for the profit - she genuinely wants to help travellers have the best experience possible. The hot tub worked well and was always great to use. The hammocks and tropical garden are another bonus. I could go on and on!
Under new management from mid 2022 and just 262 feet from Paihia Beach, Peppertree Lodge & Backpackers features 3 tennis courts and a barbecue area with outdoor seating.

Great staff and location. The common area has an amazing view over the bay and is a great place to hang out on a rainy day. I was there in low season so it was quiet but still social. I kept extending my stay because I liked it so much!

Such a lovely relaxing little town with very helpful and friendly people. Loved the Ferry departures being so frequent and enjoyed a trip to Russell. We enjoyed a couple of yummy meals. Fish & chips at the Paihia Fish & Chips and an amazing lamb shank on mash at the Crafty Local. Wish we had another day to enjoy Paihia.

Paihia - if you're not going on the cruises and tours - doesn't have a lot to offer visitors. And, to top it off, most of the shops were shut. We stayed 2 nights. One night would have been plenty of time to see everything.

It is a great place to visit, the hole in the rock tour is a great way to spend a day, we ate at the Tipsy Oyster and the oysters were divine the rest of the food was ho-hum, the staff were very attentive though, also ate from a local chippy shop and that was great, everything was within walking distance

I would not recommend Paihia Resort Hotel.Greeted by a friendly staff member. After seeing my room ,and viewing the area and pool we were very disappointed.
My children were most disappointed as the pool was dirty. The shower and bathroom wasn’t cleaned very well. Our room had a bad damp odour. The pool was not cleaned.
The best thing about the room was the free wifi.
The photos in Booking.com and the reviews were misleading.Very disappointing. My family and I travelled along way just to be so disappointed.Mostly as we expected what we saw in Booking.com.
The staff were very nice.

Paihia is very relaxed town with plenty of places to go for young and old. Probably better suited for those wanting to relax or have a simple fun break though there are several "thrill" activities availae - helicopter, game fishing, parasailing etc. Plenty of beautiful countryside and beaches around as well as plenty of fun day trip places to go. The history of Paihia and Russell is fascinating, too - the Treaty House is an absolute must and the souvenir shop and cafe there are a cut above average (best latte I have had so far this trip!)
I loved that there was ample parking on site, and good sized car parks especially for our large vehicle. The room was a 2 bedroom apartment, super spacious for a family or a stay with friends. Extra towels for each guest which I really love, lots of amenities. Very clean apartment (I am fussy), you could see they had used an upholstery cleaner to clean the furniture as the stroke marks were clearly visible, and the carpet is in immaculate condition not worn and smelly like most hotels these days.
What a view!! Stunning view of the bay from the lounge area and the balcony of apartment 1. Large, older style, clean and comfortable 2 bedroom apartment with everything needed. Parking right outside the door. Short drive from The Retreat into Paihia town - too far to walk. Very happy and friendly welcome. The apartment reminded me of those lovely beach shacks in Australia we holidayed in when I was a child.
it is a beautiful quiet spot overlooking the river, we stayed in a bungalow and it was perfect for our family. you can walk onto the riverside beach & your right next to the bridge to go across to Copthorne/treaty grounds etc countdown is very close & Paihia short 5 min drive away
we liked everything.
it was close enough to the eating places to walk

we would recommend the hotel to our friends and family
the hotel was in a nice part of Paihia
