Boquete is HIGHLY over rated. Americans have moved in and raised up the prices same as US. Nothing truly spectacular at all. We were very disappointed after all the hype on social media. Glory days are over here and the gringos have changed the quaint nature of what was once, I am sure, a lovely little mountain town.
Boquete is a vibrant little town with lots do do, friendly locals and great food. We had a great time in our 2 days, and could easily have stayed much longer!! Check out Donde Gisele for some tasty Panamanian food and Finca Casanga for a fun coffee tour!!
Flower festival in mid January was an interesting experience. Really enjoyed the traditional local dancers. Boquette Tree Trek ziplines and hanging bridges were worth a day and good value for the money. We did not do Volcan Baru due to weather but enjoyed other local trails.
We had a rental car , and drove to the Boquete Trek experience. Enjoyed our 2 hour hike through the rainforest with Danny West, and ate at two very good restaurants. Tre Scala had the BEST BOLOGNESE sauce, that we went back twice. Then I had in Retrogusto an incredible Sauce Genovese mover pasta.
We loved many things about Boquete. The mountains surround the town and the cloud forest is very accessible. We greatly enjoyed a hike over swinging bridges. The tree ferns and other plants were amazing. We were very lucky that our guide saw a quetzal and helped my husband take a great pic of this rare bird. We loved the many flowers in the Boquete area. The town has many options for reasonable food and shopping, too.
Of the four locations of our trip in December, we liked Boquete best. First, it was 10 degrees cooler than Panama City or Gamboa. Second, there were some quite good restaurant choices with a little more local or regional character. They have a lot of activities from which to choose, but this can be hard given several tour operators. Some of the smaller groups provide more personal service. It is possible to get customized guided tours for two people for $100-120 for six hours. Things like the Pipeline trail for great birding to see the Resplendent Quetzals is not well advertised. It is a great activity if you have stamina to go five kilometers up the mountain where the volcano is located.
The rooms were comfortable, the restrooms very clean. The property is in a great isolated location two min walk to the center of town. The property is well kept and cleaned. The owner is very nice, patient and helpful! I absolutely would stay again. All of boquete was out of water but with a reserve tank of water we were able to stay comfortably with water. ! Huge plus!
went for a wedding in valle escondido. nice economic alternative to the wedding hotel. modern apartment perfect for a weekend trip. apartment was nicely prepared but since we were only staying for a night we didnt use the kitchen or living room. attentive host and organized an iron short notice would recommend anytime.
Amazing house on the hills in Boquete. Drive to town was about 7 minutes but up there you were away from it all. Ciella and Quincy are wonderful hosts and you feel at home right away. The gardens are absolutely stunning, it is like your own little jungle and we loved to relax in it after we had been hiking or rafting.
+ it’s a central hub and drop off location for travellers going to and from santa catalina > boquete > bocas del toro. they have a lot of travel info on their walls and don’t be afraid to ask questions. + they have someone on the clock 24/7. + pancake mix was amazing! sooo fluffy!
Very charming and unique place with lots of character. Staff were very accommodating and the food was excellent. The grounds are spectacular and the view of Boquete and the valley from the hotel are incredible. Will definitely return.
The owners were really lovely and friendly. The common areas were air conditioned and nice. Hot water in the showers which was a bonus for us coming from other hotels and hostels with only cold water the past 2 weeks.
Good hotel with a charming creek. Rooms have prime quality furniture. Nice sound of running water and a spectacular almost full moon lighting the whole valley. Would definitely stay there again!
Besides what we mentioned above the host was a really nice and helpful guy. The hotel is quite new so it looks clean and fresh the location is also very good.
A nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff for discovering Boquete. The hot tub was great after a long hike. Also the breakfast was good.
Dora is an amazing host. You are South of Boquete center but it is an easy 65 cent ride. It is quiet, clean, and comfortable.
Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Maybe 2 stars or 3 with some upgrades. Understaffed. But the host was nice.
Amazing hotel located near Boquete. Facilities, staff and garden are excellent.
The views and all the activities that they have to enjoy boquete!
