The island is beautiful and the ferry ride from Ceiba is nice. Transportation on the island is the biggest issue. You need to reserve a jeep or golf cart rental before you arrive as they will rent out during heavy travel periods (like the week leading up to Easter). We didn't reserve a rental before we arrived and ended up having to hire a taxi to take us around. Each trip costs $10/person. If there are more than a couple of you and you plan to go to more than a few locations (including the trips back and forth from the ferry), it makes sense to rent a vehicle. It is a surprisingly hilly island with curvy roads and no street lighting. Driving day or night looks to be challenging with the narrow curvy roads and wild horses. We were only there for one full day and only visited Playa Caracas and Esperanza which were both great. We also did the Bioluminescent Bay (Mosquito Bay), which was our main reason for visiting the island during our visit to Puerto Rico. If we had a jeep, we would have tried to squeeze in a few more sights.Guest review byRobertUnited States - 10.0

Beaches are awesome but don’t expect seaweed/sticks to be raked off. Too much trash on the island. Expensive. Red Beach and Media Luna are my favorites, but Esperanza beach and Sun Bay are also beautiful and yo can walk to them from the town of Esperanza. Really liked Bananas restaurant best, and Kristy’s is nice for breakfast. Rental UTV’s and golf carts are there at Esperanza. They are too expensive in my opinion. We did see the taxi buses were coming out to Caracas (Red Beach) on Saturday. Snorkeling is our favorite. We’ve been to bioluminescence bay before and it’s cool. Walking the Malecon in the full moon is nice. There are some jet skis to rent but we didn’t try it.Guest review byWalterUnited States - 8.0
We spent one night on Vieques, and it was enough time.
We spent one night on Vieques, and it was enough time. There is currently an issue with too much seaweed on the beaches on one side of the island, so we restricted our visit to the resort we stayed at and then we walked around the area near the ferry terminal to have a bite to eat and buy souvenirs. If you have dreamed of having your own private beach...Vieques is for you! Bring everything you need because there are no facilities on the beaches. Very beautiful, but I think Flamenco beach in Culebra is perfection. My fave is Luquillo Balnearion Monserrate...so convenient.Guest review byAnonymous - 4.0

Most of the remote beaches on the east side are closed due to stray bombs. They do not advertise this fact well. The social climate on Vieques is somewhat hostile. The vendors are dishonest, trying to rip you off. Lots of rude people, drunks and bums. A fistfight and shouting match broke out on our ferry ride. The locals and strays seem to be annoyed by the masses of tourists. The restaurants are a bit expensive. Overall it's a huge hassle getting to the island and then finding a car/cart. You're probably better off staying on the big island beaches. That being said, it's a beautiful spot and there's some nice snorkeling spots.Guest review byAndrewUnited States

The house is located in a privileged spot, the views are amazing, beds are super comfortable, the house is extremely clean and it has all the amenities. On top of everything, the hostess, Marisol, was the best. She was super attentive, helped us in everything we needed, she made our stay in the island so easy.
