Sandra was such a welcoming and helpful host! It was lifesaving to have the opportunity to do our laundry after a week touring around. We enjoyed a fresh breakfast together and heard a bit about the area, helping us to plan our day ahead. Can only recommend!

The house is spacious with antiques in dinning room, nice fire place, two bedrooms arranged in nice style and one room on the first floor with view on garden and Atlantic. The garden is also large and lightened up if needed with wonderful view on the village and Atlantic. There is also grill place. In the dinning room you will find guide books on what to see. In the village you will meet friendly people willing to help you if you need. From village’s bakery you can order fresh bread each day and they hang it on your doors early morning. From exploring São Miguel Island perspective, you can reach all places in max circa one hour. Parque Natural de Ribeira dos Caldeiroes, which we do recommend, is 5 minutes of driving from the house. Whenever we needed the help from the owner of the house, we received it quickly. Welcome pack was very nice and we were surprised to see “Welcome” in our not easy language. Boasting a lounge and a garden, Lar de Santana features accommodations in Nordeste with free WiFi and sea views. With mountain views, this accommodations provides a balcony. Rui and Leonia are exceptional hosts. Not only are they warm and friendly but they are always willing to help. Every evening Rui sent us (via whatsapp) a lot of links of the atractions and spots worth visiting. Like having a local tour operator for free. We were prepared before comming to the Azores but still a lot of places you don t find looking on the net. That made our trip so much easier and stress free. The guest house (3 rooms) is spotlessly clean and every room has their kitchen and bathroom cabinets well organised with a lot of attention for small details. The breakfast is for kings (egs, ham, chees, sausage, potatoes, marmelade, yoghurt, fruit, coffie and sweets) and there is a terrace where you can enjoy it with a nice view (photo). I have been traveling quite a lot (almost 30 countries so far), but I never met hosts like Rui and Leonia. Thank you for everything.
