Hotel in Alcácer do Sal
Located in the 1000-year old Alcácer Castle, this hotel features panoramic views of the River Sado and the green valley it runs through. Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool. The hotel was very unusual having a museum in the cellar beneath it which we found very interesting. This is open to the public and has a totally separate entrance. The hotel being built in a fortified setting which was derelict before the hotel was built and is a mixture of both modern and old parts is unusual in having a walk around some of the outer battlements overlooking the gardens. The restaurant was very good and we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. As with many of the pousadas we would liked to have stayed longer but would consider another visit to this hotel as we felt the we did not see all that the area had to offer

Alcacer do Sal is a lovely place to spend a relaxing break. There are numerous restaurants/cafes/bars. There are places of interest to visit, for those interested in history and archeology. Also just a short drive away there are some beautiful beaches and interesting towns and typical Alentejo villages. Good for walking and cycling.
Alcacer do Sal is a lovely place to visit. The narrow streets are great to explore. A pleasant walk along the Sado and stopping for coffee at one of the many cafes/bars is very relaxing. There are many good restaurants to choose from and staff are friendly and helpful.
A great place to spend a short break. The place has a lot of charm and there are numerous restaurants where one can eat a variety of food. The tourist office is small, but helpful. Next time it would be good to hire bicycles as there are designated cycle paths, with easy cycling.
The unusual and historic hotel over looking the town below with views for miles. The river with lots of cafes and restaurants long the prom. Out of season still plenty of places open and the only draw back was the walk into town, 10 mins downhill, half an hour to walk back up.
It’s a typical Portuguese town as opposed to a tourist town. It is very picturesque with an unusual mechanical bridge. It has some nice walks and is on the edge of natural parkland. It has a fort albeit somewhat spoilt by the presence of a hotel within it. Views from the fort are excellent. Streets are narrow in places making access to hotels difficult. Quite a few eateries and we ate in the retiro sadino which was very nice and the food excellent. We travelled from Alcacer to Setubal by ferry from Troia which was a really nice trip and gets you into the centre of Setubal.
Alcácer do Sal
I really liked everything with no reserves, starting on the contact with Maria, our host, that was super easy going and clear about informations. Then the location is perfect, the decoration very contemporary and fresh. Beds are very comfortable and everything was perfect in what concerns cleaning. I really felt at home! One warm word to the staff that I had the opportunity to met. Thank you Al’Casas do Sal, I can’t wait to discover your other space Casas da Horta in my next trip to Alcácer do Sal.
Alcácer do Sal
The hosts are very aware of the reviews. A lot of the issues in past reviews have been solved. Very easy to check in. The room is very generous in terms of space, it is excellent for a couple. We also found the room very clean. The washing machine was a great addition. The location is great, right on the main avenue. Free parking right in front of the building. Nice touch in having two floor towels in the bathroom, and a mop, since the shower glass door sometimes leaks to the floor.
When we first saw the hotel on the hill in the distance we were blown away! Beautiful exterior and interior, with amazing views over the town. Fransico at reception gave us an excellent recommendation for lunch in town - Salinas - amazing tapas! The evening meal and breakfast at the Castelo were delicious. It was a wonderfully relaxing stay, we only we only wish we could have stayed more than 1 night!
Alcácer do Sal
Castelo do Arez is located very closed to Alcacer do Sal with a nice view on the lands and rice field. It is ideally located to visit Comporta, Troia, Sesimbra and Lisboa on the west coast and even Évora in the east part. Rita who is managing it warmly welcomed us and gave us very good advices for restaurants. She’s really taking care of her guests.
Good location in the centre of Alcácer do Sal and 25-min drive to Comporta Beach. Room is spacious and has everything you need, private bathroom, wifi and a/c. Relatively easy to find a parking spot on the surrounding streets. Staff is very kind.
