Great family vibe, super friendly, quiet neighborhood and single beds instead of bunk beds!
Great terrace, big bathrooms, feels like youre in someone's home.

We normally stay in Altura in January and have done many times, this was our first visit in February and although still very quiet, nothing open, no shops, one supermarket, no entertainment that we saw in or out of the hotel, there was the odd coffee shop open if you were lucky, but there was definably more people around. If you are like us and dont want to see or speak to anyone for a week or want a complete break to rest up then Altura is the go to place. There are a few places close enough to get a taxi too if you find it to quiet or boring. We stayed in the only hotel which is lovely but could do with a bit of a face lift, having said that if its your first visit you wouldn't know any difference, we have stayed there several times so did notice slight changes, having said that there was building work going on so maybe next time we will see big changes.

As a winter destination, Altura suits the quiet traveller.
As a winter destination, Altura suits the quiet traveller. There are numerous restaurants and cafes in the village, as well as several supermarkets. There is a tourist bus service although we haven’t used it. One major hotel and many rentable properties serve the holiday visitors. Its location in the eastern Algarve, between Tavira and the Spanish border, means there is some variety for explorers.

Visit Chaminé restaurant was great, food is fanstastic and staff is super nice. Great value for money. Restaurant Carocho is just amazing for small snacks during the day. Typical and great staff.
Altura is quiet, calm and has plenty of small street shops. The village is ideal for some relaxing holidays. Very close to the main town Vila Real de Santo António. A brand new pathway by the sea is being built that links the area around, breathtaking.

Not particularly popular among young people. is a place where to go to rest. you have traditional commerce for the minimum required. Good food good ice creams, but some restaurants cleary are overrated.
The house was great. Exactly as described, super clean and had everything you can possibly need. The location is great, just 5 minutes walk to the local beach and local restaurants, and also within a short drive away of other villages and beaches if you wish to go somewhere else. The host was very helpful and responded to everything very quickly, and he was also very flexible with check-in and check-out times. Will stay again if/when I return to Altura.
Great accommodation was very spacious and everything was there for your stay. Great for family's as had everything you needed for little ones.
Accommodation was very clean and tidy and the host was very helpful.
The pool was great to cool off in and a nice outside area for eating and relaxing.
Loved the area was in a perfect location easy to walk to the beach and shops.
Altura is a great place for family's and has beautiful beaches.
The location of the hotel is excellent, right in front of the beach. We got an upgrade to a bigger room and also a free dinner on the first night which made our stay that much better, along with the fantastic and complete breakfast buffet and the great and sunny weather - it all added up to a memorable week of vacation.
The villa was very spacious and very well equipped
The pool was great and there were plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas
Exceptionally clean and well maintained both the villa and patio/ garden areas
Whilst fairly close to Altura, the villa was in a very quiet location but we hired a car which proved useful
Host Pilar was friendly and helpful.
Location was good and quiet on outskirts of Altura. Possible to walk into town but would be hot in middle of the day and easier to drive.
Place is a converted farm with lots of outdoor space to relax and views.
