Located 29 miles from Santa Maria da Feira Castle, Casa de Vilarinho has accommodations with a shared lounge, a garden and a shared kitchen for your convenience. Unbeatable location for those who want to visit Passadiços de Paiva. The house is just 2 min away by car from the main parking lot at Areinho. The owners are extremely nice and helpful in every way. The lady prepares an amazing sponge cake for all her guests and her husband will pick you up for a small fee at the other end of the walk once you are finished.

Great pleasant town to use as a base for surprising variety of walks or swims or river activities in the area. In this area trails are marked out very well for off-road walks with great views and through lovely hamlets. The town itself also houses a variety of museums, supermarkets, shops, and places to drink and eat local treats.
I went for the 516 bridge and for the river board walk. Both met my expectations. However, both the bridge and the board walk are very difficult to find, specially the bridge. I understand that it is protected landscape and they cannot simply build a new road. But at least they could improve the signs on the roads - I found the bridge by mere chance and luck and almost missed the assigned time scheduling - and it is very stressful and frustrating to look for the entrance to those two things. I know this is a common problem on this country (lack of proper signs on the roads seems to be a cultural point of honor, just like cod fish dishes), but enough is enough. The stress and frustration of looking for the places can easily ruin the experience and no one wants that. GPS may not be as helpful as one might think on non-urban environment. New tourists: be advised for this and allocate enough time in your timetable for searching and arrival for this two attractions.
Crossing the 516 Arouca bridge is a must if you don't have a fear of heights! Be warned that there is a 1+km steep downhill walk from the parking lot to the start of the bridge at the Alvarenga entry. Also, if you take the Paiva Walkways after crossing the bridge, the toilets are 4.4 km in, so I suggest that the park put in toilets at the end of the bridge before the walkways. The posta de vitela at Assembleia restaurant is of high quality. Vegetarian options are so-so, as is true in most restaurants in Portugal.
I was mostly in between nature. As long as it's kept like this and the aesthetic of the place is maintained ... all is great! :) Fortunately, because of this, I didn't see many modern houses, which was great!!! :))
Absolutely fantastic place, everything is gorgeous, it’s so relaxing and watching the animals on the balcony with my breakfast was amazing. We were so lucky to have found this little gem. Tony was an amazing host, so friendly, informative and helpful. He really made our stay perfect. We can’t wait to come back. Really couldn’t recommend enough. Thank you ☺️ Oh and I forgot to add just how wonderful it was to eat fresh warm bread that was delivered to our penthouse for breakfast. We wished we had booked more nights here.
Once the gate opens, visitors are treated to the surprise of a gorgeous home in a beautiful setting. It is obvious that the owners take pride in the place and enjoy offering it to others. We were looking for a quaint stone cottage in a little village. This one fit the bill! And the peaceful garden area was an extra treat!
Location for the Paiva Walkway and the Arouca Bridge. The family have three self catering bedrooms and provide food for breakfast. A restaurant is also very nearby. Fairly basic accommodation with all you need. The family also operate a jeep which can collect you from the end of the walkway and return you to where you have parked your car - they can only speak Portuguese but have a son who speaks french and can help with communication.
Amazing renovation of the farm house, great location, room balcony and facilities. The furniture in the room perfectly matched the feel of the hotel. Only us and one more couple staying at this time of year so restaurant was not open for evening meal, local town only about 5 mins drive away so not a show stopper. Manager prepared a carry out breakfast for us as we had to leave early for the Ponte 516 bridge walk. Really nice.
My wife and I were the only people there during the off season in Arouca. However, Ana contacted us beforehand and told us how to let ourselves in and she was available by phone if we needed her. The property is very well maintained and our room was lovely and larger than expected. There is also a very nice communal kitchen and common area. Very centrally located and highly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa da Cavada. The house is in a stunning location over looking the Paiva river valley below. Our kids enjoyed exploring the interesting garden. The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. If we are ever back in Espiunca or Arouca we will definitely look to stay here again.
Good location close to Arouca. Quiet with very little traffic noise. Well equipped kitchen with a good-sized refrigerator. Retro decoration with old books, rotary phone and 60’s vintage microscope; the internet was fast and reliable. Swimming pool and the host gave us some fresh eggs from her hen house.
The host was very kind and helpful. The apartment was really big and provided everything we could ever need during a stay. It really felt like a family home and Arouca is perfectly located, very close to the geopark and brand new bridge 516. Wonderful surprise, I highly recommend this place!
The house is near to the center - you can walk -, is very comfortable, the kitchen is very well equipped, has a good front porch where you can seat and enjoy a meal or just a drink, the host (Mané) is very Kind :). If I return to Arouca again I kwow where to stay :)!!
it has everything needed as far as sheets and blanket and towels and kitchenware. the owner was nice and came from Arouca to guide me to the house because my gps was rather “lost”. also arranged for a jeep to take me to Passadicos which was very close.
Outstanding property, with very kind and generous people, filled with wonderful animals, coupled with a great scenery, very good looking architecture, and a very central location in the town of Arouca.
The room was amazing, super clean and big. The house is close to the center of Arouca. The owners were amazing and helped us immediately with a small issue of the keys. I would go back for sure!
Impeccable facilities. Room with balcony. Owner was very friendly and showed us the best route to the house (about 12m away from Arouca)
late arrival, Bruna came especially for me again to the hotel, thank you for this. Nice staff, very friendly; nice and very clean place
Beautifully landscaped and maintained, close to the center of Arouca, but quiet and private. The owners are friendly and helpful.
Beautiful setting and easy parking. Quick drive to Arouca. Staff was friendly and accommodating, and breakfast was lovely.
The breakfast was the typical breakfast served in most hotels and small inns with excellent service.
We were a group of 11 adults and we booked all 5 rooms. We all were comfortable with plenty of space to relax independently and together. We loved the very long table in the downstairs common room. We liked having the small inflatable pool to cool off in the heat. The house is located close to the Arouca bridge. We felt like it was our private home and grounds for the weekend.
The outside espace is tremendously beautiful. The pool is big (nice water temperature) and the garden is absolutely unique.
Comfortable, pretty, great location & fantastic staff.
