This was one of the best places we ever stayed. The rooms were spacious and the grounds were exceptional. The food was first class. The place was not crowded and felt like a very exclusive club with unbelievable pampering. The dinners by hotel staff were exceptional. The nearby town is small and the best thing was to hang out on the property with its swimming pool, spa and grounds. There were cobblestones of various kinds and all different hardscapes, plants and small benches and other picturesque structures. Very relaxing for a needed reboot.
Located in Caminha and 1.2 mi from Moledo beach, this 4-star hotel offers views over the Minho River, the sea and Santa Tecla Mountain. Hotel Porta do Sol has 2 outdoor pools and gardens.

Great front desk staff! We were on the Camino and he helped us with getting tickets for boat to cross the next morning, gave info for luggage transport, and help translate English to Portuguese at Spa. Pools are beautiful and food is very good!
Arca Nova Guest House is located in Caminha, a few steps from the train station, the center of the village and Minho River.

Perfect location along the Camino. The staff was welcoming and helpful. They provided restaurant recommendations, and they did our laundry for a small fee!

Caminha, a fortified border town located at the mouth of the river Minho, where several battles were fought between Portugal and Spain, now has much more friendly relations with its neighbor , it is a nice place to stay a few days to discover the area, unfortunately the ferry that connects the two banks of the river, is out of service.

I have been taking holidays in Caminha for over 30 years so it is one of my favourite spots. The town is small and everything is in walking distance, packed with enough restaurant choices to keep you satisfied and very well fed. Around it there's plenty interesting things to see and places to visit, also more restaurants with more excellent food to enjoy. The proximity with Spain is also a bonus.

Great little town with a lots of culture and tradition.
Great little town with a lots of culture and tradition. As a pilgrim, there were not so many places to stay, but I met some lovely people there. I loved walking along the river Minho, beautiful landscape, fascinating architecture. It's a quiet town that is located on the riverbank of Rio Minho and you can cross the river by ferry to Spain.

CAMINHA is a very attractive little town especially the old centre which has a lovely bustling square !
Many decent reasonably priced restaurants.
There are lovely clean beaches & super views across the River Minho to Spain !
Ideally located for walking on the beautiful unspoilt Serra da Arga or along the coastline.
Easy to nip across to Spain on the cheap ferry.
Good train service to other interesting places.
Our room was named tiles and it smelled like mold.
the room was okiish but it didn’t get the part with the design.
the personal was basic it felt like understaffed.
they don’t know to speak so well english and may be for that the first reaction was a no or that face: what do you want?
It is central and nice property but over rated.
It is nice that of you take dinner at their place you get a bottle of wine witch was ok
Perfect host- positive, very professional and helpful. You have salt bath for tired feet, cooking supplies like soy sauce and garlic, even through I was afraid of staying in 20-bed room, it's designed in a way that gives you privacy, bathroom is sparkly clean- I recommend this place for everyone!!
Hired a chalet for the night. All good, about 40 mins walk from town where you can get boat to Spain - or there was a man offering trips across very close to campsite. About 6 euros pp. Town is worth a visit though...
Lawrence was a great host who directed us to a great place for a vegetarian meal (not easy in Portugal). We really enjoyed it and the beautiful town. His place also had a washer and dryer that was well appreciated.
