5 stars staying experience!! I had a fantastic experience staying at this charming accommodation. The environment is absolutely stunning, peaceful, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The room was spotless, modern, and very comfortable, with all the amenities we needed. One of the highlights was the complimentary wine tasting experience, which was a wonderful bonus! Just make sure to book it in advance. The staff truly made our stay exceptional—they were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful.

This is a beautifully restored hotel that doesn’t look like much from the outside, but is just delightful on the interior. The owner-manager spent literally years carefully and thoroughly renovating this nearly 150 year old building, carefully preserving many old architectural elements that provide a truly charming atmosphere. The result is stunning! Also the breakfast buffet was amazing with such a wide array of delicious choices. Our stay here was well worth the slightly higher rate. The front desk staff turned out to be the owner and she was so helpful in directing us in exploring an old, nearby town that suited our interests perfectly.

Nice village. Three restaurants, one is Michelin listed. A small mini-market half way up the hill and I think that you can do wine/port tasting right in the village too. We had a fantastic view from where we stayed and based on the lay of the land, I suppose that that's the norm

We loved being in a small quiet village within easy driving...

We loved being in a small quiet village within easy driving distance to many places in the beautiful Douro valley. Only drawback might be the fact that there is only one restaurant, La Bamba, which is pretty basic. There is another one, but it is Michelin starred and booked months in advance. We drove 15 minutes or so to a recommended restaurant in Regua, but could not find parking, despite making many circuits of the area, and ended up driving back to Folgosa and La Bamba. Generally, we found parking in towns to be a challenge in Portugal, and this was October - summer is surely worse!

Folgosa is very small but at the bottom of the hill is a Michelin star restaurant! Great food, atmosphere and service. Otherwise there are only a couple of very small restaurants. It is a pleasant short drive to nearby towns/villages that have more dining options. There are so many vineyards nearby. The one right next to Folgosa - Quinta Dos Frades - provides an excellent tour of the property and tastings. At other vineyards one does not get driven around the entire property. Folgosa is a nice place to use as a base to explore the Douro Valley.

Beautiful house in Douro Valley with great view over the river. The huge window in both rooms is enough to make you want to wake up early just to enjoy the scenery. Mr Joaquim was very welcoming and made sure we had the best experience both in the Quinta but also in cute Folgosa.

Awesome place, host is very easy to be with. Breakfast on a balcony over the douro…. Anazing start to the day. Yes folgosa is a small village and you need to drive, but its worth it. Communal fridge was a bonus!!
