Located within Serra d'Aire and Candeeiros Natural Park, Quinta de Rio Alcaide offers a natural setting in Porto de Mós. It includes an outdoor swimming pool. The whole place is very special, in the heart of nature. We arrived late in the evening so we didn't have time to enjoy the place but in the morning we walked around a bit and everything looked lovely.
Located in Porto de Mós, Refúgio das Artes provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a shared lounge and a garden. This is a really unique place, tastefully decorated, and truly art inspired. The beautiful patio with multiple fountains has everything you need to relax. We felt like at he house of a friend or family, as peaceful as a sanctuary. Ed, the owner, is a wonderful host and a truly nice and kind to everyone. The location is very beautiful, a hidden gem in Portugal. However it would be difficult to get around without a car, unless your plans are to do the multiple beautiful hikes (Ed would give you all the information about hem) around the residence. If you have a car, you could easily go to Obidos and Lisbon( about 1 hour), Nazare ( 40 minutes), different beautiful caves, lagoons and many other nature wonders, and beautiful cities. The area reminded us of many other equally beautiful places like Tuscany, some areas around Santa Cruz in Northern California, villages of Extremadura ( Spain), among others.
Featuring a swimming pool, a shared lounge, a garden and views of the garden, Renovated Wine Press House - WITH POOL is located in Porto de Mós and provides accommodations with free WiFi. The place is truly amazing. Renovated in good and sophisticated style. Everything is high quality, starting from wooden floor, through comfortable beds, chairs, bathroom's equipment and amenities, even stylish coffee cups and glass. You can find there everything you need during your holiday, especially fully equipped kitchen. The location is perfect if your are sightseeing a lot - huge variety of attractions in neighbourhood. Sanctuary in Fatima is just a few kms away, as well as very nice ocean's beaches near Nazare, caves in National Park, wonderful cities of Alcobaca, Batalha and Obidos. Hosts are wonderful and helpful.
Featuring an outdoor pool and a sun deck, Alojamento Local Céu-Azul is located within the National Park of Serras de Aire e Candeeiros. It is surrounded by picturesque valleys and mountains. Very friendly & helpful staff who really went out of their way for us. Very clean.
Located just 13 miles from Monastery of Alcobaca, Villa Porto de Mós near Fatima provides accommodations in Porto de Mós with an outdoor swimming pool, a shared lounge, as well as a shared kitchen. Host is super friendly. She welcomed us with self-made treats. Was very responsive and helped us on every our request. House is big and very cozy, perfect for a hygge evenings
We spent here full week with hiking, visiting caves and a salina in Rio Maior. Many different hiking trails with surprising diversity of landscape. Good food in the local restaurants, we recommend Petisqueira Dom Lambuças in Alcaria - a typical, tasty Portuguese food at reasonable cost (we ate there twice and paid for the lunch with desert for 2 person 17€ and 24€ - the second included wine). The best way to explore area is by car to your starting point, than on foot or by bike. Many marked trails, but I recommend a GPS working offline (trails are available in the internet in KLM and GPX format)
Fascinating area, full of history, traditional customs, intriguing water capture and management methods, great scenery. We took a guided trip of the Parque Natural da Serra e Candeeiros with a chap called Hernâni Edgar Magalhães in a nice, big Volvo 4WD. He spoke excellent English, was full of great information, showed us small villages, lagoas, an old windmill, dinosaur footprints, and even fed us gorgeous pastries made by his wife! We also like the city of Porto de Mós, which is very attractive and has a nice cafe beside the river and the tourism post plus a good castle, though it has been buggered about with and lacks its original charm; lacked good interpretive text about its architectural features . Wonderful sculptures in the park and suspended above the river. Friendly locals, lots to see and do. Will deffo return again to seek out Roman remains and more dino footprints. The park is large and full of geological and cultural goodies. DON"T MISS the awesome Mira de Aire caves with stunning stalactites and stalagmites. Lots of other "grutas" also, if you like underground adventures.
