Loved the family style dinners with wine pairing from Jet and Ronald. Great opportunity to meet travelers from other places. Wonderful views. Cute town. Nice hike. Very clean and comfortable room in an historic home.
Offering an outdoor swimming pool with sweeping Douro Valley views, Quinta Manhas Douro is surrounded by nature and also features a restaurant. Breakfast was excellent. The staff was very friendly and informative. Appreciated that they informed us of a short hike to an excellent viewpoint which we did and liked. Welcome drink is Port wine. Lol-only in Douro valley i guess..
Set in Gouvães do Douro in the Norte region, Casa D. Antónia features a balcony and mountain views. The property has river views and is 21 mi from Vila Real. Everything was great. The house was in a small mountain village. We were invited to a party in the village square by the locals who were warm and welcoming like us Irish. Our grandchildren loved the pool. We will definitely return. We took the cruise up the Douro River. Brilliant. Train ride to pinhao . Enjoyed the beach scenery and restaurants. Then took a taxi to up the mountain. Lovely walks lovely scenery and our hosts made it more enjoyable.
A tiny and unspoiled town. Not much going on in the off-season but a lovely place to stroll and explore. Magnificent views over the very-steep vineyards of the Pinhao river. We were the only car, and very-obviously-tourists, driving through the main square, with the men playing cards in the local store, the women chatting as they walked along. Incredibly quiet and peaceful place.
The neat little town makes a wonderful backdrop as well as viewing point for the vineyard terraces overlooking the Douro river valley. Just take care to follow the correct road up from that tourist haunt Pinhao.
What a beautiful spot! We had never heard of Pinhao but loved this little village! We liked the winding roads up and down the hills! Symington's port tour was excellent and an great restaurant was recommended to us, "Restaurante Veladouro" which is by the river. It was so good and reasonably priced!
