Hotel Rural Quinta do Marco - Nature & Dining is located in Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo by Algarve’s Caldeirão Ridge and offers far-reaching views of the Atlantic Ocean. What a beautiful place, so typical Portuguese and the animals just give it that special and warm feeling like home. The staff were just out of this world! So kind and welcoming! Especially Pedro, with his Algarvian sass! They went above and beyond with our special requests. We hope to come back one day. As this was by far the best place we have ever stayed in Portugal! (Having lived there for 15 years 8years ago, we visit Portugal every year) The food was soooo tasty, offering a different meat, fish and even vegan dish everyday! We enjoyed the included breakfast buffet very much every morning! MUITO OBRIGADA AO STAFF ❤️

Tavira is a lovely small city. It has good shopping centers and fine restaurants. It is tricky to get through it by car, narrow streets, many pedestrian only areas and a shortage of parking, The river and seaside are its main attractions. The local tourist office is underwhelming. I would have expected a very significant amount of brochures to be available there outlining the details of individual arts, crafts businesses, archaeological sites etc in addition to listings of restaurants etc. There are many more items and places of interest to be listed in addition to churches and museums as outlined in the map of the town and its environs.
Not overcrowded with tourists, excellent accessibility (close to Faro airport, two train stations, bus service for Portugal and Seville), excellent beach with facilities (need to take ferry), historic sights, and fairly tranquil.
Tavira is a town of many layers, it has something for everyone. Fabulous and varied places to eat. Beautiful architecture and character. The river Gilao runs through the town which is so lovely to take a stroll by. There is a ferry that runs every hour to the beautiful and quiet Tavira Island. The beautiful and bustling town of Olhao is a short drive away which also has ferry’s running to small and picturesque islands off the coast. Tavira is definitely worth a visit!
We had a wonderful time in Tavira. I loved walking through the town in the evening. Locals and tourists were milling about. We had the most amazing and memorable dinner at O Tonel. There was a musician playing, who was outstanding. Everyone in the small pedestrian only lanes where restaurant's have their outdoor seating, was enjoying the music and having a truly "life is good" feeling, lots of smiling faces and happy hearts. One of the best moment in my life. Just a wonderful moment captured in time. Walking by the river is so charming, people of all ages come to hang out and chat. Such a warm, safe, and enviting place.
Not much to do in the area but go to the beach. The town is quiet but there are some good restaurants. Cafes en bars are not that great. The architecture was a bit dissapointing. Not the best atmosphere.
Best spot in Algarve for family or couples vacation. Not a party spot for young crowd. The month of August there is a music festival and each night there is a live, free performances on the main square. Lots of fantastic restaurants, galleries, mud/salt spa and shopping.
The hotel is beautiful. It is thoughtfully designed, with modern amenities and also reminds you of its history. It made for a luxurious stay without ever feeling stuffy, which we really appreciated with two young boys. The staff is welcoming and helpful, and the food is delicious. Our room with the “children’s bedroom/playroom” on the mezzanine and the private pool on our patio was just amazing. The baby could be inside napping and the rest of us enjoyed the beautiful weather. We’ve recommended it to everyone since we got home!
Tavira
The hotel is by the river in Tavira, which is a lovely place. We stayed on a room only basis which was fine as there are lovely cafes and restaurants just a short walk away. The ice cream at the cafe next door is delicious too. There is a supermarket a short walk away and more shops on the other side of the river. There is a ferry which runs several times a day which takes you over to a beautiful beach for a small fee.
Tavira
A Muralha is perfectly located near restaurants, attractions, shopping and a 6 minute walk from the bus. I appreciated the exceptional cleanliness, friendly staff and good WIFI. The breakfast is delicious, plentiful and of high quality. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
Tavira
Breakfast excellent. Service charming and very helpful. The ambience of the whole site was charming and that’s why we return there. Close to all facilities and attractions. Tavira is an excellent place to eat sea food. A real taste of traditional Portugal.
The location was very centrally located near Tavira and the outdoor pool was nice with a comfortable, shaded patio area adjacent. The breakfast buffet had a very good, extensive selection which is par-for-the-course at most Portuguese hotels.
Beautiful old property, free upgrade on arrival to tower bedroom with wonderful view. Pool area was really nice & very quiet & private. Lots of nice restaurants & shops in Tavira just 2 minute walk from the Tavira Convent Hotel
Tavira
We stayed one night, arrived an hour late to check in. The receptionist was waiting for us and was simply a very nice person. I wish all my customer service experiences in Portugal was like this one! thank you!
