History, beauty and nature in the same package. If you are looking for a calm place to visit, this could be your choice (I travelled at the beginning of March, out of season was good). You can eat well, but don't expect a shopping trip. There is a shopping centre a bit outside the centre, but at least by foot it was very uncomfortable walk amongst the trafic and the centre itself was pretty sad. This is place to just wonder around and to take the ferry to the natural park (island) nearby. The ferry takes about 20 min and you arrive to another world. Long beaches, beautiful sea. Unfortunately the cafes in the island are very noisy (music non-stop), so if you are looking for calmness, take you own picnic with you. And don't forget the food market (every morning until 13h) close the the ferry, it is amazing and much cheaper than supermarkets!
Some new restaurants, but if you want to eat would recommend pre-booking as even in cold wet March there were no inside tables available in Portuguese style restaurants. Ideal for older people at this time of year when reasonably quiet. In summer ideal for sunseekers atnearby beaches and bird watching.
Charming historic town in Algarve with nearby beaches and sights. Close to other points of interest (Castro Marim, VR San Antonio, Monte Gordo and Sevilla, Spain). Access by bus, train or car are all possibilities. Worth visiting for several days or longer. We visited three times (mid-March, mid-September and late-October). Weather was always pleasant.
Tavira seems to to be a amazing cozy city and place with so much oppertunities. This weekend it was some kind of cycling trail competition so alot of people music and race people . Amazing weather the last days of my journey Feel gratitude to have been in Tavira Its simple to walk everywhere. Café and restaurants are everywhere around the city Google Maps is amazing to use
Pleasant pretty town with plenty of restaurants. Possibly book restaurants if it’s weekend even in early March! We had lovely meal, great value, in Restaurant Ponto De Encontro. Rain meant that we didn’t explore the area as much as planned. Easy train trip 40 mins to Faro
Ancient town with cobblestone streets and many interesting back alleys that have many surprises, such as cafes, shops and restaurants. A plethora of excellent restaurants offering a variety of Portuguese and international menus. The farmers market is located in the central town and is open daily. A bike rental shop is located across the Roman bridge and once off the main city streets one can ride on secluded paths and roads along the salt pools. We took several car trips to other interesting towns, many less than an hour away. Tavira is a great base for exploring the eastern Algarve.
if you want to escape the masses in the typical beach resorts this is the place for you. A permaculture farm where the staff is very friendly and there to satisfy your needs. I really recommend this cute boutique hotel for a different kind of experience in Algarve. You won’t regret it - very peaceful and relaxing :)
Breakfast was exceptional. Staff incredibly helpful and couldn’t do enough. The hotel arranged an transfer to and from the airport which was very good. There are lots of spaces to relax with comfy sofas etc including the roof top bar; this was great when the weather was a little wet. We’ll definitely return
The location for this hotel is amazing, right next to Ria Formosa. You can get a ferry near the hotel and cross to the beach. The view is also amazing. The hotel was built on what used to be a fishing village, and some of the buildings have been restored, and there's a museum. A charming experience.
The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful. The hotel decor was fresh and the room was a good size and spotlessly clean. Bed was big and comfortable. The breakfast was very tasty with a good selection. Not far from Tavira and nearby beaches by car. I was there for work and enjoyed my short stay.
