AP Maria Nova Lounge - Adults Friendly, hotel in Tavira

Located a 5-minute walk from Tavira’s bustling town center, Maria Nova Lounge Hotel - Adults Only enjoys a quiet hillside location. Its modern rooms feature a private balcony.

We enjoyed staying in this hotel very much. The location is excellent: a quiet area but only a few minutes walk from the city center. The staff was just amazing, so friendly and helpful: both even before our trip started (promptly helping us to deal with our flight cancellation), and also during our stay. The breakfast was very nice, and the dinner meals were just super! Having live relaxing piano music at breakfast was also very nice! We also enjoyed using the gym and the sauna. We were there in late October, so the average age of the visitors was about 70, though there were quite a few young couples as well. We also used their transfer from the airport service, which worked very well, despite a very long delay in our flight

Exceptional staff. The young man who checked us in on October 7 at 3 pm was very thorough and helpful in providing us with information around town. With his assistance we were able to make the most of that evening in town. Close to main attractions. Spacious and clean. Beautiful decor. Easy parking. Good variety of breakfast.

The beaches all along the coast were amazing.

The beaches all along the coast were amazing. You need to go through some run down areas to get to them. Tavira is a pleasant town with lots of eating places and has a fantastic cycle/walking route towards the sea.

We loved the location, great restaurants nearby.

We loved the location, great restaurants nearby. Our host was very helpful on arrival and questions we had. The roof top was lovely. The bed was very comfortable (except the sheet didn't fit the bed). The shutters made the room dark. However the floor tiles and the shower tiles were very dirty and the mat was not vacuumed very well.

Although quite touristy it was not overwhelmingly so with nice restaurants and shops and some lovely places to walk around. A beautiful small town, not tacky and full of character. Close to a lovely beach accessible by boat (and also by foot if you are prepared for a bit of a walk!). There was a fabulous silversmith, Carlos Pascoal, on the road near the old market place on the side of the river and pretty much opposite this. Beautiful hand made, quirky and environmentally appealing. Quite rare to find such lovely and quirky pieces...

A very attractive, compact town with plenty of eating places. Picturesque bridges over the tidal river are a delight. The town centre is lively and very walkable but town tourist bus and ferry to the island are welcome bonuses.

It's cute but boring little place.

It's cute but boring little place. There is a tiny old town, the roman bridge, and a renovated tiny city center, and a park along the river. You can see everything in 30 minutes. We took the little tourist train which was a complete waste of time and money. It's a good place to retire to, but not a fun place to visit.

I'm not sure how many times I may have reviewed Tavira now...

I'm not sure how many times I may have reviewed Tavira now but as with the place itself times and people change... Personally I can feel a little disgruntled that other people now tread its streets and modernisation and development is obvious, but success always has a downside and becomes a victim of itself. I STILL ADORE THE PLACE, as with any visitor, be prepared to slow down a little and soak up what is all around and about you, you WILL find a little something to delight you! Alan :-)

Great shower, clean rooms and efficient check in. Loads of towels including ones for the pool! Great pool for swimming. Not too busy. Best breakfast we had while in Portugal and stayed at 6 different places provided fresh fruit, variety of meats and cheese, many different pastries and FRESH orange juice, yoghurts and more that I’ve forgotten. Beautiful grounds with a vegetable patch and plenty of grassy secluded spots to rest in away from the pool.

The staff were polite, friendly and very helpful. The hotel was very tranquil and peaceful which was great at the end of a month touring and walking Portugal and Spain. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We loved the view from our room, with the garden and the ocean in the background. The rooftop area was a lovely place to sit with a book, have a drink, and enjoy the room (and the sun!)

Everyone was very welcoming at the hotel, which is located on a main road, about 10 minutes away from Tavira. The bedroom was comfortable & roomy & had a seating area together with a small balcony. We used the hotel shuttle bus to Cabanas, which has an amazing beach, reached via small ferry boats. The breakfast choice is very good & we had dinner twice at the hoted which was of very good quality.
