A fabulous place to visit. The town is so pretty, the people so friendly and the food amazing. The beach is a boat ride away but great fun and lots of amenities when you get there. I would recommend the following; Ozadi Hotel Number 19 taxi Brisa do Rio restuarant Come na Gavata restaurant Ponto de Encontro restaurant
Such a lovely place to visit for a few days. The island is one of my top 5 beaches in Europe. The little back streets with their patterned porcelain tile clad walls are stunning. Don't forget to catch the ferry, €2.20 return to the Island where you'll find the freshest fish restaurants and laid back beach bars. The white sand with beautiful shells and clear waters, allow you to see the fish swimming around your feet. Little tip - take some bread with you to share with the fish.
Tavira Island is definitely worth a visit. Ferry leaves from central Tavira and costs €2.20 return. Buy a ticket from the ticket booth before joining the queue to board the ferry. Sunbeds and umbrellas or cabanas available for rental. We paid €14 for a cabana and were able to order very reasonably priced drinks to the cabana at the same price as going to the bar. Lots of lovely restaurants but worth making a booking as some have timed sittings.
Nothing interesting at all. One of these places in Portugal you should skip to spend time in more interesting and pleasant places. For good food visit small villages near Tavira. We had amazing dinner with our friends in non-tourist area, fantastic food, friendly people!
Lovely historic town with loads to see and do. Lots of lovely shops , bars and restaurants. Great restaurant called Cais, about 3 minutes walk from the Vila Gale Hotel. Easy to walk into Tavira and explore the town. Ferry to Tavira Beach is available, we didnt use it but it looked popular. Some of the restaurants on the main walk into town are a little pushy but we avoided those!
Working town which blends fishing, farming, history with tourism to provide access to wonderful beaches plus some good dining experiences. Not far away are some good golf courses plus if you have a car it is worth hopping over the boarder to Spain either across the magnificent suspension bridge or via the ferry VRSA to Ayamonte every 30 mins - cheap as chips!
Tavira
Old style hotel in a very central location in the historic town of Tavira. The reception staff in particular were very welcoming, organized our taxi for departure and facilitated an early breakfast for us. We had a relaxing 3 days in Tavira, the ferry to the island is opposite the hotel and the old town, Roman bridge, restaurants and cafe are only a 5 minute walk away.
Tavira
Peaceful surroundings, lovely pool with views of the hills. Close enough to get to the beaches and hills beyond. Only 30 minutes from Faro and 90 minutes from Seville. The staff were all extremely helpful and had a host of insider knowledge to help us make the most of our visit to this beautiful region of Portugal. Would highly recommend.
Tavira
My boyfriend and I stayed at Azul Sul in October and absolutely loved it. Jose is an amazing host and guide, going above and beyond to make us feel at home. It was out first stop on a week-long road trip in Portugal and I can't imagine a better way to start our trip. We will definitely be back if we get to visit Tavira again.
Great location ... it is more of a basic hotel than a hostel ! Very clean. Located in the center of Tavira... Generally good value for money if you want basic accommodation in a good spot. Fabulous cafe just round the corner ... would stay again. Visit Tavira Island, Lots of great restaurants on your doorstep !
Tavira
Really central location for sight-seeing, ferries to the island, restaurants and cafeterias (everything within an easy 15 minute walk radius). Free parking at the hotel a bonus. Good cleanliness and covid precautions in place. Lift an advantage for our older family member.
Beautiful old property, free upgrade on arrival to tower bedroom with wonderful view. Pool area was really nice & very quiet & private. Lots of nice restaurants & shops in Tavira just 2 minute walk from the Tavira Convent Hotel

We stayed one night, arrived an hour late to check in. The receptionist was waiting for us and was simply a very nice person. I wish all my customer service experiences in Portugal was like this one! thank you!
Tavira
The property is in a fantastic location and amazingly quiet despite it’s central location. The beds are very comfortable and as always in Portugal, the apartment was spotlessly clean.
Breakfast is great and the dining area is wonderful especially in the morning. The hotel and staff are fantastic. Overall, I would stay here again without hesitation.
Tavira is a great unspoiled part of the algarve, the hotel is small and intimate. modern and interesting to stay at.
Everything. We continued our trip across Portugal and stayed at another 4 Vila Gale hotels.

This time we've got better accommodation than we expected. :) Mid January, looks like very low season here. But still onsite supermarket is open, minitrain to the beach runs till 5pm, buses to Tavira run as usual and places for eating also are available. As we did before we asked for electric kettle in the reception :) We could also rent the hair-dryer (for a deposit). The rest was as usual - clean, quiet (except for lawn mowers), green. Well, just fewer cats than usual – we will have to return here some other time to check on this :-D
Tavira
Everything. Location, close to everything. 3 mins walk to a beautiful market, 5 mins to centre of town. the apartment was beautiful and well designed. Anita, that met us with the keys was fantastic. So nice and friendly. Gave us lots of information and even later in the evening she messaged me with lots of other ideas on what to do and see in the area, trains, buses ,restaurant's and lots more. thank you so much Anita. Will recommend to anyone travelling to Tavira to stay in these apartments.
