Ruhondo island retreat was fantastic - both in terms of natural beauty and as a gateway to many local community experiences around lake Ruhondo. Jean was amazing and led us on a hike and community visit - he shared awesome info about the area where he was born. The tents were awesome - with great hot water showers. The food was also excellent, the chef Elias did a great job! I would recommend visiting lake Ruhondo , and the retreat, as an alternative to lake Kivu.

The lodge exceeded our expectations. The views from both the restaurant and the rooms, overlooking the volcanoes, are truly breathtaking. The room was very beautiful, with thoughtful details that made it a perfect place to relax. The manager and staff were consistently kind and helpful, both in sharing information before our arrival and in their availability throughout our stay. We also joined one of the activities offered, the Twin Lakes tour, which was wonderful; our guide was knowledgeable and very friendly. The evening bonfire at the restaurant was a special touch and greatly appreciated. We highly recommend the place and we hope to be back soon!

William the manager speaks english and french. He is very reactive and helpful. The food was nice but above the place whre the lodge stands is perfect. On the lake shore with a sublime view on the volcanos for the sunset and the sunrise. A small piece of paradise. Highly recommended!
