This guest house is in the center of Abisko and next to Abisko National Park. Depending on the season, the midnight sun and the Northern Lights can be viewed from the property and surrounding area. The location (Abisko) is just an incredible place, highly recommended and I would gladly come visit again. Staff is very helpful.
This hotel is in Abisko, just 2 minutes’ walk from Abisko Östra Train Station. Abisko Mountain Lodge’s in-house restaurant Brasserie Fjällköket has a seasonal menu based on locally sourced... This place is beautiful. It has a great cosy relaxed feel about it. We had just walked the Kungsleden. The staff were fantastic they could see we were tired.
Abisko net Hostel & Huskies is located in Abisko and features a terrace and mountain views. The accommodations offers a shared kitchen, a tour desk, luggage storage and free WiFi. The kitchen was the social centre of each floor. Sauna experience couldn’t have been better. Facility was clean, well equipped, warm. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Micke o Ritas stuga is located in Björkliden, 2.4 miles from Djupviken, 6.2 miles from Abisko, and 6.2 miles from Abiskosuolo. I loved everything! The owners are very friendly and helpful. The house is beautifully renovated, cozy and super clean. It is really comfortable and equipped with everything you need and more. Plenty of light in all rooms and the views over the lake and Lapporten are fantastic. By far the best house I’ve stayed in!
Katterjokk Turiststation offers pet-friendly accommodations in Riksgränsen. Free private parking is available on site. All rooms have a dining table. Some rooms feature a private kitchenette. Comfortable stay in the Swedish mountains near the Norwegian border. Nice huge shared living room. Everything clean. Nice showers and sauna in separate building.
Accommodation like a smart hostel. Good view from dining room. The layout of the rooms - (where some rooms had no window) - was like that of a ship where there are inner cabins. This layout maximises the views from lounges/dining room. Our 3-bed room was very quietly situated but guests in another part of the hotel were disturbed by thoughtless noisy guests at night.
Abisko is cool both in the winter and summer time. The landscape in the winter is like from a fairy tale and you can easily see the auroras in the night sky if you stay a few days. I recommend you try out the dog sledding and maybe even try a sauna and then jump straight into the pile of snow like a proper Viking :D Lots of people told us summer time is also great with the big lake offering a beautiful view and possibility to go trekking and camping around the area.
The staff were excellent. Everyone was professional and always had an answer and a smile. The northern lights are visible right on the property. The restaurant served great food for both breakfast and dinner.
A very small town with an amazing array of possibilities on active stay, nature and winter adventure. Has 2 great restaurants (STF and Mountain Lodge - both have to be precooked) and some great options for all size or wallets to stay. Very easy to loose yourself in the vast space and forget what day of the week it is. Superbly good for relaxation.
Abisko is a pretty smal vilage with just expensive activities, if you are on budget, at least you can watch the northern lights for free, the national park right behind the STF is amazing place to watch them. If money is not a problem, you have several options, since a full service for a private tour for aurora watch, dinner at sky station where you are on the top of the mountain to watch the Northern lights, sking options, snow safari, snow mobile and so on, all depends on your budget. It is easy to get there by train or by car, not far away from Kiruna or Narvik in Norway. STF Hotel is basically inside the Abisko National park and amazing place to watch the northern lights, nothing is cheap in Abisko but the supermarket nearby (godisfabriken), may have some snacks and sweets that you would love to have.
I was expecting a rather remote beautiful area, quiet, clean, to view the Northern lights and have long peaceful walks in nature and instead a busy road passes along the lake with heavy trucks and cars, camper vans parked everywhere, 30 huskies in a kennel waiting to be set free when the winter tourist season arrives in November. The whole area is all about tourism, making a buck . . . I found the entire experience very very depressing and was extremely happy to depart. I will NEVER go back there!
Abisko is the best place for aurora hunting in Sweden and STF is the best place to stay. The place is very easy to reach, walking distance from Abisko Tourist Station train station. The location is just beside the Torneträsk lake and strategically very windy (good for moving away clouds). Very picturesque. Hostel and Cottages are with North facing windows.
We LOVED the cozy lobby and the very friendly staff! We stayed four nights and it is clear that the staff here has become a family. We had fun ice fishing and seeing the aurora! The restaurant is top notch…don’t miss the moose tartare!
Service was great, Huskies on property, can use snow suits and gear to hike and snow ski around, sauna every night. They can help arrange activities in reception if you have questions.
Good location with great view from the living room. Friendly and helpful staff. Really nice sauna!
