Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Pongwe Beach Hotel is located in Pongwe. WiFi access is available. Each room here will provide you with a patio and a seating area. The beach is amazing-clean, possibility to swim in the sea even in low tide. Loved the idea of putting your flag in the sand if you wanted to order something. The food was superb. Staff was friendly. The bar area is nice and the pool is beautiful. Loved that the staff was not overbearing and we could enjoy the peace and calm pace of life. The bookshelf was a great idea.
Featuring a garden and terrace, as well as a restaurant, The Island - Pongwe Lodge is located in Pongwe. The property provides an outdoor pool and a 24-hour front desk. The beautiful pictures of the Island don't do it justice - when seeing it with your own eyes and experiencing the full hospitality and warmth of Margarita and Amine, you are left in awe that such places exist on earth. This hotel which opened in 2018 is built in an eco-friendly manner while maintaining all the facilities and services of a high end luxury resort. Having only 5 individual bungalows - it remains intimate and quiet. It is literally an island on an island! When tides hit twice a day it becomes a secluded heaven surrounded by two meters of water - leaving you to enjoy the Island's food, pool and swim in the ocean - an absolute feeling of Robinson Crusoe! Of course access is always available in and out using the hotel's boats. During low tide you're free to explore hundreds of meters of shallow water around the island, discovering the local seaweed aquaculture farms tended to by Amine and see nature's wonders around you and under you. The food on the island is one of the best in Zanzibar - serving only fresh high quality products. Breakfasts are huge and you're able to choose abundantly. Coffee is excellent. Dinners on the island are more an experience than just eating. With large portions of fresh fish and seafood you're left wondering if this is reality or a dream. The scenery of the coming/going tides while eating on deck adds to the magic. We started our dinner with full tide and finished it seeing the sand around us - a unique experience! Check-in is smooth, and you're greeted by Margarita and Amine who are giving their 200% into the hotel and its operations. You can feel they care about every detail and guest. The rest of the staff are just as caring and warm. This is a luxury boutique resort, situated in an amazing bay on the eastern side of Zanzibar. You're getting the treatment of a top class luxury hotel with the intimacy and care of a small island.
Located on the shore of the Indian Ocean, Azao Resort & Spa by Opulent offers guests a relaxing getaway in Pongwe, Zanzibar. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom spacious and clean. The restaurant especially salads and desserts were appetizing (loved them) The resort is in a quiet location which is good when one wants to relax.
Featuring a private beach area, Seasons Lodge Zanzibar is a hotel in Pongwe offering water sports facilities and garden. The property also features an outdoor swimming pool. Marvelous place to stay for relaxing, writing something and thinking about myself. Truly open-air lodge it was, you can see-through the end of the Indian Ocean from standing at the lodge gate. I definitely come back again!
Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Queen of Sheba Beach Lodge is located in Pongwe. Free WiFi access is available. Each room here will provide you with a balcony, a terrace and a seating area.... Have had the most amazing time here. Beautiful location on Pongwe, wonderful hosts, outstanding staff and fabulous food - the menu changed daily with lots of delicious fresh salads, seafood and dishes for other tastes. The owners went out of their way to make sure we were looked after, arranging tours and taxis and making sure our favourite drinks were available. Highly recommended!
Offering beachfront accommodations in Pongwe, Santa Maria Coral Park has a restaurant and bar on site and offers special diet menus on request. Guests can rent bicycles to explore the surroundings. The village is great and it is perfect for people wanting to stay at the resort all the time, but we like snorkeling and diving and spending days on the beach and Pongwe is too far from these activities. It is a one hour drive from most good excursions and a taxi costs $70.
"Not long back from our amazing trip and now have a serious case of post-holiday blues, as it was sooo good. Beautiful place, genuinely smiley, happy staff. Very clean - rooms, restaurants, beach etc. So much to do (if you wanted to!) for adults and children alike. Our 2 little ones loved the kids club, recreation and the swimming pool. We loved the beach, snorkelling, the spa, the pools, the pool bar. The food was TOO good (that was one good thing about coming home, we were eating too much, it was hard to resist). The chefs are super, they tackled dietary requirements at short notice. There are no negatives. We hope to be back! PS. Our children LOVED Jongo in the main restaurant, though all the staff were just lovely. It's obviously a good place to work too, they all seem very happy :) We would highly recommend the hotel to all travellers looking for a great place to stay with children."
The pongwe beach hotel was fantastic. It was great value for money. Clean and the gardens and beach were immaculately kept. The chef was brilliant and the food delicious. The pool is great and the beach is available 24/7 and swimming is possible even during low tide. The staff is helpful and it is a great place for relaxation. I would recommend for couples. Not all hotels have beaches so this one is great. It was very safe and anything we needed could be arranged. I can easily see myself coming back again.
we spent most of our meals at he hotel we were staying at because it was simply delicious. We did try out the Rock hotel for lunch, which was a nice change as we could swim in the sea two hours before the tide would have come in at our hotel's beach. We could also watch fishermen coming back for their day's expedition. Pong we is great to relax, the waters are pristine, maybe a lot of seaweed, but this is he ocean!
The area is very safe and a great opportunity to visit local villages and meet thr people of Zanzibar. Everyone is very friendly and although English is a bit of struggle, knowing some basic swahili can get you somewhere untill you find someone fluent in Kiingereza (English). For a pleasant surprise, ask the local people selling excursions on the beach about the "Bush Baby Bungalows" and drink some sundowners there for a unique experience. Rent a car for a day or two and drive up to Kiwengwa or down to the Jozani forest. You may just be lucky enough to spot the local Zanibar monkeys. Also, get some Reef shoes and walk into the sea talking to locals fishing or working seaweed in the ocean
Beautiful resort, in a very peaceful location. Great staff and high attention to host needs. The hotel manager is a very nice person, always ready to help for any kind of request. Good food, spacious and clean rooms. I will certainly recommend Pongwe Bay Resort to my friends.
The infrastructure of the hotel it's amazing (5 stars!). The people who work there are the best! it's very kind people and make you feel at home. The food was, by far, the best food that we eat in Zanzibar. Because of the low tide, the place doesn't have a beach at all, and for that reason they have a magnificent pool, and they offer free transportation to Uroa beach every day. In summary, if you don't care about to stay directly in front of the beach, this place it's a very good choice!
Everything. As I wrote them that this trip is our honeymoon, they upgrade our booking from junior suite to presidential room. The wifi was good and I had access in the room. Room had all the facilities you need. Room was clean and cozy. The resort design, furnitures, flowers, beds beside the beach, ... Was great. Food was great. Staff welcoming. The pool was clean and in good condition. Nothing bad.
Have had the most amazing time here. we lived in this amazing place for 11 days in the middle of November. unforgettable time! extraordinary conditions and design. paradise sea. but the main merit of this place is the amazing people the hotel staff of all levels. Thanks and see you soon! we remember you Denisa, Nikola, Jacob, Dorcas, Emmanuel, Gideon, Prosper and the Owners and everything and everyone!!!
Staff was incredibly kind. Beach is gorgeous and almost private as there are not many tourists around this area. You can swim during high tide and enjoy the natural pools during low tide. The restaurant, has a small menu that changes on a daily basis but the food is delicious and they are very accommodating. Rooms are simple but comfortable and clean.
The pool was clean and big, Staff very polite, nice from the guards, Receptionist (Mussa), Restaurant Aisha and her team, Pool Bar Anthony made some nice Pongwe Punch. Games for kids and the bikes old BUT is a good idea to have them, Rooms are spacious even though i had to move rooms BUT ended up in a villa with a private pool.
This hotel is truly exceptional - its location, the quality of the rooms and public areas but most of all the staff who are the friendliest and most attentive I have ever met. If you want a quiet, romantic, 'get away from it all' hotel, then this is the place for you. I cannot praise it highly enough.
Very bad Managment of Indian GM who doesn’t understand what means hospitality. Staff is nice but there’re still learning how to serve, otherwise they’re very friendly. Rooms are small, interior - not good at all. In compare to other hotels - it’s money for nothing.
Friendly, helpful staff Very clean, big swimming pool Food good (but not a lot of variation) Breakfast wonderful Clean grounds, quiet, beautiful beach
This spot in an absolute 10 with amazing beach and incredible staff and food. Ssearching
