Very cozy and lovely hotel that deserves to be called a resort. It gives a full island lifestyle experience, with many different locations around the property to enjoy the ocean view and serenity surrounding you. Wonderful breakfast that will cover anyone's needs with daily fresh fruits available of course. There is an amazing bar at the pool that offers the best cocktails in Zanzibar. But most precious are the people living and working in Moonshine. During our short stay, we had a feeling of living at our family's villa in Uroa. Thank you very much Shuni, Davido and Danilo for this unforgettable experience!

Great apartment a large living room, and nice bedrooms and bed. Grounds and swimming pool were well kept and looked very nice. Also it’s right on the beach so the views were stunning.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of spending two unforgettable nights at Filao Beach Resort. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism by the incredible staff.
One of the highlights of our stay was the special private dinner they prepared for us. It was a truly exquisite culinary experience, and the attention to detail was remarkable. The ambiance was heightened with a beautifully decorated room, adorned with candles, which created a romantic atmosphere that we will cherish forever.
What truly stood out during our stay was the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. They went above and beyond to ensure that every moment of our visit was perfect. Their genuine smiles and willingness to assist with any request made us feel like cherished guests.
Filao Beach Resort is a hidden gem that we fell in love with. The tranquil surroundings, pristine beach, and the overall serenity of the resort provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. We cannot recommend this place enough.
Our heartfelt thanks to the entire team at Filao Beach Resort for making our stay truly magical. We look forward to returning in the future and creating more beautiful memories at this exceptional destination.

Beautiful, serene setting with lots of shade & vegetation on a long stretch of pristine beach. Loungers and comfy sitting areas dotted about. Nice, well-maintained pool next to check-in and restaurant, with rooms nicely and loosely spaced.
So, much less “boxy”, tight/enclosed than most of the other resorts along the Uroa stretch of beach. Great relaxed vibe. Staff friendly but professional, attentive without being intrusive. Hats off to Oscar at the front desk, Ramazan & Patrick at the bar, Happy & Asma & too many others to mention making sure my room was spotless and all needs met. And manager Abdul made the rounds - checking in and genuinely wanting feedback - a rarity. Kudos!
I searched the island for exactly what I found here: a roomy unit (ask for the “junior suite”) RIGHT on the water, big verandah with comfy furniture - 20 feet from the lapping waves at high tide. Hakuna matata, indeed.
Good AC, fridge, safe. Shower with decent pressure and plenty of actually-hot water (not necessary but nice after weeks more remote). Comfy bed, good breakfast, bar-tenders happy to add fresh passion fruit to just about anything. What’s not to love?

Very small quiet village on the east coast of Zanzibar,...
Very small quiet village on the east coast of Zanzibar, perfect for a relaxing romantic vacation. If some action is needed you can go to the nearby Kiwendwa, only 20 20-minute drive, or to the bigger more touristy areas in the north up to an hour drive. But to enjoy the island in full Uroa is one of the best places. And the best food! (we have tried in 5 different villages across Zanzibar!

The Paradise Beach Resort and Spa in Uroa is a self-...
The Paradise Beach Resort and Spa in Uroa is a self-contained area - ideal if you just want to stay somewhere that has everything you need. There are "external" excursions available if you do want to see outside the resort. At the time I went (May) it was not crowded at all, and the weather was superb - the rainy season had passed fortunately, and sun was present all day every day. Lovely private sandy beach, rooms are also good, and well looked after by the daily clean service, including an evening "mosquito" spray visit. Food was also good - nothing too elaborate, but adequate, and plenty of it. All in all a great place to stay.

There is no restaurant.
There is no restaurant. The WIFI did not function, the tv did not function. There was no hot water. The staff didn't respond to any issues just laughed. They could not even provide a receipt. I was over charged and am still seeking a refund and they tried to take money on arrival having said they had taken funds in advance. There were people walking around with 14 inch knives on their belts. The hotel forced guests to wear irremovable wrist bands as if Alzheimer patients. The local beach is unpleasant, which is rare for Zanzibar, which is full with beautiful beaches. There were a group of women sat outside my window all day neither guest nor staff. If you risk booking please be advised that this is a remote location, if there is no scope to go elsewhere you will be compelled to stay. There are many other wonderful establishments on this island catering for all manner of needs and pockets.

Its about and hour and a half from Zanzibar city.
Its about and hour and a half from Zanzibar city.
Nothing much around we found a local restaurant and a grocery about 20min driving from the place we stayed.
You get very small local restaurants on the way and small local shops which we didn't stop and have look.
People are friendly and helpful.
Get your own alcohol from Zanzibar its cheaper.
Don't carry alcohol from Tanzania to Zanzibar as its prohibited but you can buy it from Zanzibar.
Unlike Paje where you get hotels bars restaurants shopping and activities, Uroa is very quiet and mainly has beach hotels.

The hotel is a resort and has everything you could need.
The hotel is a resort and has everything you could need. We don't bother going in to Uroa as there is no need. We come for the hotel not the nearby town. Beaches are lovely nd people generally very friendly.

Thank you for beautiful vacation.
The resort is really nice and has a beach in front of it.
Staff in a hotel restaurant were great, and Ricardo the waiter was very professional and accommodating.
The roof above our room was under maintenance, but they offered to upgrade us without extra charges:)))
The food was nice. Do not hesitate to try local food served on one of the stand of a buffet.
Octopus soup... delicious !!!
Breakfast was not their forte, but it was pretty decent.
Beautiful garden! Personel was very helpful and nice. Hotel is situated in isolated area but the stuff is trying to make everything for guests to not be bored. You can also use hotel bikes and explore by yourself. Food in the restaurant was very good!
This is a quiet beach hotel on the beautiful beaches of Uroa. I got a nice, upgraded room and a very pleasant stay on a beautiful beach for a couple of days. The staff is super friendly and welcoming and I would certainly recommend staying here!
