I absolutely love this town!!

I absolutely love this town!! I have been here at least 50 times. I love the Barter and the Creeper Trail. The town is quaint and welcoming. The Tavern and Rain are wonderful places to eat. I really miss Peppermill, and I am so sorry it has closed.

Abingdon originally caught my notice because of the unusual density of promising restaurants, for such a small town. I started planning return trips to go there, just for the food. Unfortunately, most of those have gone downhill. The coffee places close early, or don't update their menus (=still advertising things they don't serve). The pizza places tend to be overspiced. The Mexican place overcharged me. Etc. The last remaining jem is Bella's. Middling service, but the best Greek salad & breadsticks on the planet!

We met family, went to a wonderful play at the Barter Theatre and then had supper before going to our hotel. Great small Virginia town and venue. with several good places to eat and places to stay.. Barter Theatre is a gem!

I absolutely love everything about Abingdon & the...

I absolutely love everything about Abingdon & the surrounding areas & look forward to visiting as often as possible. The people are classy & super nice & the air smells delicious to me. It's always very quaint & enjoyable & just a short drive to hiking trails & other towns, yet with easy access to all. I had a nice meal at Puerto Nuevo Mexican restaurant where the menu is extensive & the staff superb, (ask for Kevin so he can practice his English 😊). I also enjoyed just walking around town. Just relaxing!!

Wonderful place to visit with an excellent museum and a wonderful downtown area featuring great restaurants, cute shops, and an interesting artist studio area. Highly recommend dining at 128 Pecan-- what an incredible restaurant, and the King Museum featured one of the better traveling exhibitions I've ever experienced during our stay. One of my very favorite places to stop when going through Abingdon is the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center and Marketplace: make it a go-to destination for gift shopping and supporting local Virginia artists. I've found so many beautiful things there!

There are some very beautiful areas around Abingdon Virginia...

There are some very beautiful areas around Abingdon Virginia. The Martha Washington Inn is right up the street, and a very historic place to visit. There is also the Cave House where Daniel Boone stayed at one point, and I am CONVINCED is haunted. There is a tavern that has been in business and open since the late 1700s in downtown as well. Not to mention the Barter theater, which anyone who knows anything about drama would love to visit.

As many other reviewers have mentioned, the breakfast was above average for a hotel chain. I particularly appreciated the dairy-free milk options and whole-grain muffins. The beds were comfortable and the location was quiet despite being at capacity. We stayed on the first color with our pup and small children and they slept without disturbance. There is a Dominos basically in the parking lot which made it much easier after a long day of driving and a late check-in.

Lovely hotel that was centrally located to all the hiking we wanted to do. Staff was exceptionally kind and helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast had many options to keep us well fueled for our active days. I'd definitely book here again!

Of all the hotel chains, I think I like the Country Inn and Suites the best. Staff are unfailingly friendly, helpful, and courteous. Breakfast is top notch. Beds are very comfortable and the room is very nice.
