I never thought of Augusta as a place to visit for fun until...
I never thought of Augusta as a place to visit for fun until my daughter attended college here but it is a lovely family and budget-friendly place to plan a trip or outing. I love nature and Augusta preserves the most beautiful spaces to enjoy it. My favorite spot was Riverwalk but it is currently under construction and I look forward to experiencing the completed project. My second favorite spot is SRP Park in North Augusta. There are hotels and restaurants and a place to walk or take the free trolley to enjoy nature as well. Events are seasonal so make sure you check the guide book before planning your trip.

This is my second home.
This is my second home. I stayed here for 14 years, and I got pregnant and wanted my son to be closer to family so we moved back. Anywho, yes this is the city, you can always find a great job with great benefits. All kinds of good food all the time, never eat the same everyday, if that's your thing. A great getaway and rendezvous, lol. I always have a great time but not enough time in my weekend, ugh. So we will be back and this time, stay Friday to Sunday.

Hometown girl here, so I might be based. But Augusta has changed and grown into a very nice mid size city. The hospitals, housing, culture , history, colleges and universities are worthy of a second look.

Augusta is fairly provincial, but as with every other southern city, you can entertain yourself driving around and looking at nice houses.
Prices are generally quite reasonable, and people are friendly.

Didn’t see much of the city because I was there for a basketball tournament at Riverview park Activities Center. That facility is very nice. They’ve even added food services during the tournament. They just need more food servers and more educated/knowledgeable officials. This was the South Carolina high school league team camp but some officials were not very knowledgeable about the game/rules of high school basketball.📖🏀

I went to a few events in downtown Augusta & it was great! I used to live in the old town area near there and I'm amazed at how they updated much of the area while retaining it's historic southern charm. Augusta is with it! The medical district made me proud I'm from the ancient days of MCG (Medical College of Georgia) and University Hospital and all that area is new and different for patrons and students it's really a good look for the city when visitors come. Augusta College, Paine College & the crown jewel that makes Augusta known the world over The Augusta National Golf Club/Masters golf course are still standing strong. I miss Regency Mall but Augusta Mall fills the bill! Surrounding areas like Evans, Martinez, Hephzibah & North Augusta (SC) have much to adventure seek as well. I rode the full length of the CSRA/Central Savannah River Area I can't remember the exact name of the river but the water is still peaceful I watched many a boat race there in the past. This is the new South and it's still as charming as ever!
